Silver Strand

One whole year! Congratulations to everyone who's been able to do it! If anyone wants to keep going, I've created a 2025 streak at https://streak.club/s/1815/weekly-music-2025.
This one once again uses the microtonal just-intonation Tele Deluxe. Slow, lots of space, and a bit tricky to form into a structure: some of these sections seemed a bit brief, like they'd need another repetition...but doing that at this slow tempo created the risk of those sections wearing out their welcome by the end of that repetition. I went with the shorter option.
I'd tightened the truss rod a hair and fiddled with bridge pieces, and I think...it might just have a bit too little relief in the neck: you'll hear a bit of buzz in places. Easily corrected, but for the moment, it's baked into the recording. Still, I kind of like the resonance of these low notes, even if the high notes aren't quite as well defined as they were when there was more relief.
All fingerpicked, as usual. No inline effects, just a bit of convolution reverb and multiband compression/eq on the stereo mix. This past week I listened to some older stuff outside of the "multiple tracks of one guitar" and like the variety--it might be time to return to some of that, though I think my composition and touch have benefited from the focus on one timbral profile and a smaller number of tracks.
The title comes from Silver Strand Falls in Yosemite, which may or may not drop 574 feet.
Thank you for listening! Best wishes to everyone for 2025!
