Quadratic Residue

By onezero on May 15, 2022 11:29 pm

This one seems like I wedged it into a busy weekend, but having an extended block of time Sunday to track guitar and tighten this thing up really helped. I'd wanted to do something funky, and this came out. I came up with drum patterns late Friday, tracked a bit of bass Saturday, and wasn't sure if it'd cohere until the end.

Drums: Ableton 64 Pad Kit Special, with Max Humanizer, a bit of extra Drum Buss drive, and a send to a filtered echo.

Bass: 80s Epiphone Embassy II (P pickup) with EQ-8 rolloff below 100Hz.

Guitars: Home built Res-O-Glas with Lace Alumitones, straight into the Focusrite.

Sends: One filtered echo and one convolution reverb.

The title comes from the number 437 being a Blum Integer, which has some interesting relationships with the set of all quadratic residues.

Really enjoying the responses from the guitars, very satisfying.

Really like the bass line!

Scotch in one hand cigar in the other, hanging on the back porch with some fresh squeezed lemonade, Feet kicked up letting the time pass by. (I gave up drinking and haven't had a cigar in years, but this instantly brought this image to mind). Nice.
