Praxedis

Another busy weekend (activities, guitar setup...), though I've still found some time to track and organize a piece. This one started with a slight and sparse idea that I ended up not using. It felt unfocused during recording, and so I ended up tracking way more than I needed (something like 15 minutes total of material), and some parts didn't make the cut. Three tracks of PureSalem Mendiola, with the vintage tone circuit of the UA Volt engaged. Otherwise, it's the usual approach, with the usual convolution reverb (though a different impulse: garage, rather than concert hall), and compression/eq on the main channel.

The title comes from 547 Praxedis.

very nice to hang out in the garage with you and the Mendiola  smile

A well executed compositions. I like the stereo back and forth.

Thank you! The back and forth is a natural artifact of composing responses to other parts: I try to make them fit rhythmically, with phrases or note clusters fitting into a rest in another part. I pan the tracks to static positions, so that call-and-response turns into a back-and-forth kind of thing.

Very nice arrangement.  I feel like this would be perfect score for an "investigating artifacts of a past life" type sequence in a game like Firewatch or To the Moon.  It feels like it has a lot of emotional content sitting just below the surface, but it's not ready to take it to dark or bright place... and maybe it never will... and maybe that's ok... It's like the old man at the bar who you know has stories to tell... and who might tell you if you ask, and he might even be happy that you did... but you can tell he's perfectly content share his time only with his beer.

Very chill, though I'm a little curious about the 15 minute cut.
