Walking the Practice Cave

By OleJazzer on March 10, 2024 7:38 pm

I wrote this in 5/4.  The bass is a Fender Ventera II VI. Not the squire model. (I'm not sure how much difference that makes except to the pocketbook - I have a Jazzmaster 12 string Squire  model that is very well done) The VI bass is a shorter scale, sort of a fat sting guitar, one can do all the bass stuff I can do on my 5 string Jazz bass plus play chords .
Anyway the idea is it reminds me of walking down a dimly lit basement hallway in the early morning, looking for a room with a playable piano and a bit of sound proofing. although it may sound like the horn player is playing along he or she is not. at those times they are lteing their minds wander while they are contemplating the music on the stand in fromt of them. each room had a well serviced, decades old spinet that looked like 20 miles of bad road. the manufacturers name had been worn off durning WWII most likely. I was there in the late 1960s to 1970s.
I like this sort of naturally occurring all around us everyday music.
