The Legend of Ol' Drip

By Nyarlos on May 29, 2022 10:51 pm

I had a grand idea to do a surf song that slowly turned into a metal song, see my weekly beats 20 song Moose Pirates for the correlation of surf and extreme metal. But, just kinda loved this as just a surf song, the point was made last time, lets just ride the waves of drippy spring reverb and single coils!

Pedal free week, this was all my Kustom '72 Coupe that I used as a thrash amp a couple of weeks ago, but I sent it off for a service, as I do all new amps, and when it got back to the shop me and Ryan were so impressed with the amp's clean tone and awesome spring reverb. Nothing beats a real tank, and this Kustom is becoming a favourite of mine. Just a Squire Telecaster and an amp for all the surf goodness.

woah - oh my word that amp sounds great!!! (& your musical stylings that Squire Tele)
hope dick dale is looking down & smiling upon you

This feels like a legally distinct Miserlou cover at first, also very well done somehow managing to make surf metal when usually they're basically the same but with different levels of distortion, such great sound.

surf metal love that concept haha and very well executed!

Minor scale surf music! That's like The Shadows hiring a guitar player from a Death Metal band. I like it, we get also a slight Spanish vibe. The world needs more music like this!
