Tech Metal

Real rush this week, bit off more than I could chew!! There was a short time in the early 2000s that a few bands tried the mix of black metal and electronic music, where lots of BM bands used keyboards, there was mostly a lean towards traditional orchestral approaches, a couple of bands like Aborym that did the same with the more techno sounds. I don't think I quite got there, but hey, at the very least I got a decent techno drum beat blast!! Did a synth bass instead of tracking bass, and think I did a decent job of blending the kick and snare with the electronic sounds. The arpeggiator at the end was a pain, I really wanted it to get dirtier and distorted as it went along, but was a pain keeping the volume consistent, but the idea is there at least.

Only used one pedal, the MXR Fullbore Metal, another not good high gain pedal, I thought it would do ok for that "bandwidth cut" kind of sound, thinner tone to let the other elements through. But was a struggle, ended up using it only into the FX return of my amp, the only way I could get it to not be the most brittle crusty sound in history. Only stock image today, I was rushing for time.

i needed a release of such angst, and now i think this track just shat my pants for me...
ahhhhh so relieved, thank you!

Ah yes, the EDM black metal. Cool.

You made it work, tho I do wonder how brittle and crusty it could sound

Haha this put a smile on my face. Between the guitar tone, the drum patterns and sounds, this is just perfect, as if it was directly recorded under the snow in some lost part of northen Europe. Very well done, you keep delivering crazy tones and riffology!
