The Night They Fired Comey

By NWSPR on February 4, 2018 10:22 pm

Getting a head start on a new wave opera describing the collapse of the Trump presidency, composed while we're still living it. Today's entry is the night the Tangerine Tornado fired the director of the FBI and goes in the libretto after Mexican Rapists but before Shit Hole countries and Porn Star Pay Off.

For this week, I kept things simple and was mainly testing out my new Tascam 16x8 audio interface, which I am very pleased with.  I was able to put down 5 tracks at a time from live play and sequencing rather than a stereo track at a time when live recording with my old interface. Next week, I'll try connecting 4 channels for live electronic drums for a quick session recording 8 tracks simultaneously.

Awesome vocoder! I'm getting really nice late-70s Moroder vibes from this track.

Great momentum, love the ominous vox. Hoping you're right about the Trump & Co. decline & fall.

I can't quite make out what the words are, but it somehow sounds cooler that way? What's your setup?

love it

Big track! Great vocoder, love that title, I look forward to the opera!

I'd watch that opera.

Super creepy vocals!

Nice work, a bit of a departure from your usual stuff I suppose, but history must know of the sequence of events.

I really want to hear this opera! The vocoder is really cool. It adds such an ominous feel, especially because we can't understand the words. Which, is, you know relevant to the current President.

yes definitely a Moroder inspired vocoder, thanks for picking up on that!

Thanks! Yeah, they can't sustain the level of shit they got going on. Only a matter of time...

I like to keep the vocal obscured. I'm using a Shure SM-50 into a KingKorg Analog Modeling Synth.  that way I can play the vocal melodies and provide the Morodor style chords. I also use a Roland VT-3 vocal processor on other tracks but not this one. The VT-3 has a pitch slider which is unique for the otherwise crappy door stop.

I took creative license with the title. James Comey was fired in the middle of the day but Trump had made his mind up the night before.  More drama if it's night smile

We're living it! I'm reading Fire & Furry and it's a real shit show for sure.

Thanks, I tried to do something different with less tracks and bigger sound. Usually the more layers I add on is an indication of the amount of mistakes I'm trying to hide causing a musical shame spiral smile
