Six Days Ago South Dakota

By NWSPR on January 16, 2022 9:24 pm

I was watching a movie on Netflix that was doing all these time jumps going back in the sequence of events and the title on a particular scene was Six Days Ago South Dakota.  I thought, that would be cool if that was the name of a town in South Dakota and maybe a few people would say "hey, just like in that movie I saw on Netflix" and it would be an inside joke.  So if anyone knows a mayor or the governor of South Dakota, please pass this idea on.

Then much later that night, I was watching this independent Japanese SciFi movie as part of a film jury I'm sitting in on and the plot made no sense.  May have been cultural or questionable film making but there was a scene at a night club that had a nice dance track playing so I tried to capture the same feel.  This is nothing like the original btw but I with it was closer.  Would need more time to thin out a lot of unnecessary synth lines and improve on the production.

See you in the comments!

Neat stuff! Especially that one pad that keeps ebbing and flowing throughout the track.

The buildup to this track with the arp is epic. The drive is strong in the bass!

The plot making no sense in Japanese indie movies is definitely part for the course! Have you watched Visitor Q? There is some real craziness happening there. smile

Great driving beat throughout. Really enjoyed this! You do film stuff like that a lot?

love this vibe! just a touch of cyberpunk smile

hell ye dancy dakota! super analog soundscape!!

This gets the 70s Moroder Award for this week.

Awesome feel to this one dude!  Always love hearing your synth work.

Nice driving feel to this one.  Some of my favorite tracks are the ones where I attempt to re-create something I've heard and fail miserably, but end up with something completely different.  Wish I could help you on your quest to re-name the town.  My grandmother was born in North Dakota and I apparently still have a lot of relatives there, but we don't cotton to South Dakota scum.

Just kidding, I'm sure there are a lot of nice people in South Dakota, but I'm not related to any of them that I know of.  I really do have a lot of relatives in North Dakota though.

Great forward motion... somehow feels a bit similar as the end credits theme in Blade Runner (by the Big V). That is a great compliment in my book smile

massive and bouncy. you know how to make your synth smoke.

fun!

Oooh def cyberpunk_neon_light feels right away in this.  Those dark synths sound awesome.  I could listen to that arp pulsate for so mucho longer smile  Well done!

oh god i had the volume up too loud and that sound is BONE CHILLINGLY SCARY

dang man this goes super hard, then at :49 getting that melodic turn

great drums, great synth selections -great title

Well you're in luck. I'm the mayor of a small town in South Dakota! Just a side-gig thing for giggles. I think this is a great name for us, since we're all time travellers. In fact I knew this song was coming, and I have already commented that its good one!

A cruising builder of a track.  Really dig the unison bass line near the end with the shifting two notes melody.  That reminded me ever so slightly of a NIN track.

Nice! I like this bass and your instruments, it's a cool future city sound.

The beat smacks. I like this one. No robot rock or anything, just good, wholesome, Japanese clubbing in a South Dakota.

Lovely town, it's one day's travel away from "last week".
