Monotonous Prime

By NWSPR on May 3, 2020 11:49 pm

Hey virus people! Hope you are safe and well.  I apologize, because I need to catch up on listening to tracks.  This week got out of hand and I haven't been able to make the rounds or leave comments when I was listening.  Looking forward to catching up.

This week is my first wrap style vocal, kind of, although this song is dub style not hip hop. I really had a lot of fun with it. Bass, guitar, harmonica, synths, and drum machine.  I also tapped the mic on the kitchen counter for some extra percussion.

Also, please check out my EP on Band Camp if you are so inclined.

See you in the comments... Be well and rock on!

Great stuff. Vocals came out great. The pannning sounds so good in headphones.

This is a cool one! I love this harmonica! Now I fee like brushing my teeth.

Oh man!

Awesome man, love this one.  Great name, great grove.  Good to hear Kurt is doing well too.

Has a nice, urban groove... makes me think of the street scenes in the original Star Wars movie somehow! Like an Italo western on an alien planet. I clearly got that dub flavour there...

FAT and GROOOVY!!! AWESOME!!!

Haha I'm starting to really associate your tunes with massive hefty intros. The harmonica is fabulous, this slaps //

Nice groove on this one! I like the stereo on the vocals.

Ooooo weeee. That harmonica is so satisfying. and catchy! This track left my head bobbing for more. Great production on this. Love the microphone idea haha.

The harmonica works really well here, especially considering I would generally associate it with a bit more of a "rural" vibe and this definitely has an "urban" vibe.  Great blend of sounds all around and it creates a fantastic groove.

If I've helped one person remember to brush their teeth during the pandemic, it's all worth while smile My job here is done. Don't forget to floss!

this is an absolute killer.  stoked to blast this in the car during my commute tomorrow

I like this groove a lot. The fun comes through! Ooh that harmonica does the trick, tickles the sweet spot. Nice wrapping too, love it bouncing around the speakers, and fun lyrics, man I can relate. I'll find you on the Bandcamp!

Why do I love this gif so much? It's like Optimus Prime belching a baby robot.

Virus People in the crowd!  Cough for me one time!

*COUGH*

Love the slinky shuffle on this one - also hilarious track title

The harmonica is ACES - you could get a serious Gorillaz vibe going.

I want the vocals a SMIDGE louder, but I really enjoyed the talk-rap you've got going on.  I'd love to see more in this style in the future!

Dang the orangedrAnk took the words out my mouf. Def feeling Gorillaz with that harmonica.  The bassline hooked me right away.  The rap has a nice rhythm to counter everything else too.  Def do more like these when you can!

Dope.

That harmonica is so mellow, I love it.

I got that nice Gorillaz vibe with the low-key vocals and the very organic instrumentation. Great job!

I like the gorillas reference indeed.
Supercool track, also with that harmonica ... faved.

Thanks! Thought it would make it sound more conversational... like going crazy from the monotony and talking to your self.

Thanks! I can definitely see that. I'm trapped in a new wave spaghetti western existence smile

I live for the drama! One of my better harmonica tracks for sure.  I only have a Cmaj harp.  Need to invest in a few more.

How did it go? Did my shitty mastering blow any speakers?

Thanks! The idea for the harmonica was to give it a jailhouse vibe like we're all prisoners in this quarantine routine.  Glad you liked!

Definitely the Gorillaz vibe.  If the vocals are low in my mix, you know there's a reason.  I always hide the bad stuff by lowering volume or your ears will bleed!  It's for your own protection smile Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks! Got to work on my rap game a bit more. I'm no YoungGrandpa for sure. YGP!!

Thanks, I was quite pleased with the tone the harmonica lent to the mood of the song.  More expressive than my voice or synths.

Thanks! Fun song to track.  Need to go back and revisit the Gorillaz and their earlier work.

Thanks!  Yeah, the harmonica gave it some heft.  Have to bring it out more often.
