Long Time Ago

By NWSPR on July 24, 2022 9:05 pm

Hey, did another track featuring the Moog Liberation for lead and rhythm synths including the off time cv clock sequence.  This time I used all analog synthesizers to accompany the Lib including the old Roland TR-626 for drums, Moog Grandmother, Behringer Model D and Pro One. Then I added real bass guitar and harmonica. No guitars other than the bass as but got some good swells and distortion from the Liberation.

Heading out to play a gig in Bushwick, Brooklyn tonight.  A couple of guys that I've played in other bands with are doing a set at Gold Sound. Be good to get out even if it's like a thousand degrees smile

Break a leg!

Love the vocals, the vibe, and the "baba-o-reily" section around the 2nd minute is unbelievable. This one is 100% going to my morning commute playlist heart

this is a serious epic monsterhit in a beautiful authentic 80ies retrostyle. music to fall in love with. your vocals are the absolute killer! but what happened at 2:40???????????

sooo good, vibe is the word

Hope the gig went well.  Love the energy you consistently get out of these tracks.  The harmonica blends in with the synths really well and adds a great texture.

super fun and def 80s vibe. so cool you got a gig! i used to live in nyc - may you make it through the humidity safely

(there we go)

The harmonica is always welcome in these tracks! I love also the sound of the bass! I hope the gig went well!

A nice, big splash of delay
Really appreciate the harmonica, the sudden cut-off at the end might take some getting used to tho

such an awesome groove.

Sweet synth sweetness. Rides along on a dream nostalgic feal. Love the vox, bass anchoring it, and of course synths steal the show. Oh harmonica, well that's sure cool too.

sooo good!  the harmonica was a nice touch smile

I'm gonna need a musical montage or paused jump cueing credits with this cool track.  Super catchy vocals that conjured up all those good 80s feels.  The sorta baba o'riley outro into harmonica was really cool too.

Yeah, I have no idea what happened at 2:40... I guess it was a "Long Time Ago" before I learned how to manage a decent fade.  I was in a rush and the abrupt ending was a surprise to me as well but I already uploaded smile

Thanks! What do they call it, happy accidents? Lots of happy accidents and a few not so happy ones smile

The gig went well.  Funny story... I left my car keys on the bass amp and could not leave until really late waiting for another band to finish.  I thought of faking a stage dive and casually swiping my keys off the bass amp but the band was playing slow wanky rock.  I'm such an idiot but eventually got home.

Yeah, I was a sweaty mess. Good gig though and nice to play with my old friends.  What part of NYC were you in?

Let's just say nobody got hurt and I made it home at a decent hour.  I left my keys on the bass rig and had to wait until the last band played.  I'm a team player, but the last band was not my cup of tea.  They will probably get signed ha ha.  They were super serious and it was a small bar.  Just weird.

Thanks! I will not try and pretend the ending was intentional. But if you remove all the mistakes, there's no more NWSPR sad

I made some mistakes in the arrangement that I have since fixed. Overall one of my favs for the year.  Just all kind of clicked into that 80s sound.

Any excuse to pull out the harmonica!  Thanks smile

I gotta work on my video moves.  I like that paused jump idea! Ha ha...

I was all over: Midtown West a year, South Park Slope/Greenwood Heights for 2 years, Midtown East for a year, Chinatown for a year, then right by Frederick Douglass Circle for 3 years. I'll be back in Sept for a couple weeks for work and seeing friends. Let me know if there's a show!

Huge celebratory sound, feels like it's from another time. Great little shakeup of the sound leading up to the two minute mark.
