Escape Velocity (Everything Has)

By NWSPR on September 9, 2018 4:33 pm

This week's track is based off of an article I recently read on the potential of human travel beyond our galaxy (or lack of potential). Aside from the thousands of years at near light speed, the craft must achieve escape velocity.  I thought escape velocity only applied to smaller astronomical bodies such as moons and planets but apparently every large mass with a gravity well has an escape velocity. Makes sense but it's mind bending.

This is the first time I have used Logic's software instruments and sequencer for the basis of a track. I got some solid drums and a nice vintage arp.  Everything else layered on top is analog, and played mostly using the Korg Minilogue with my own patches with the exception for the lead and some sound effects from the Akai Miniac.

About Bass & Gravity:

There are three bass lines going at the same time. I played two layered bass guitar tracks using my Gibson Ripper. The first sounds more like a rhythm guitar due to the chorus and the second is a deep bass sound that does not come in until the second verse.  A third bass line is synthetic and comes from the minilogue. With the added mass of three bass lines, the song cannot achieve melodic escape velocity without compression and limiting.

Text to speech and human vocals mixed quietly and in secret at 3 am this morning. Mixed in Logic.

Note: The concepts expressed in this song, should in no way or in any part be used for a potential journey outside of the galaxy.

Thanks for listening!

Sounds like happy space travel music.  Great energy... maybe even enough to achieve escape velocity.  Love the synths and the spoken word bits.

Deep. Somewhat disappointing to read your final comment, in that I was all packed and ready to leave.

Ah! I completely disregarded the warning at the end, I closed my eyes and the song itself transported me to the bright stars above, riding those awesome synth and bass ships. Thanks for the trip!

It's got a nice pull to it.

Yea, escape velocity is kind of a pain.

I watched this on mute while listening to your track:

Thanks! I was happy with the synth sounds. They came out nice and sparkly.

I just meant I'm not sure about the math, so results may vary.

Thanks! Your trip was powered by the new wave arp propulsion drive and bass wave projectors.

Gravity is considered the weak force but it rules the universe.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I was happy with the synth production on this one as well.

When my rocketship is ready, this will be my soundtrack as I fly into space!
