Happy #29 everyone! This week, I returned to all synthesizer arrangement with the exception of some added bass from the Gibson. This track started to sounds a bit like Depeche Mode to me, so I went lifted a DM lyric and hid it in there... see if you find it in the reverb drenched chaos.

I'm having some fun with the synth drum sounds by manually riding the resonance and cut off filter knobs provided in the generous King Korg hybrid analog layout.  The best attribute of this keyboard out of many.

Roland TR-505 drums, Moog Grandmother & Gibson Ripper for bass lines, King Korg for everything else. Live tracked for maximum fun (and timing errors). Finished with 2 minutes to spare before the deadline. smile

Hope you are all well, have an awesome week, and I look forward to checking out your tracks!

Definitely got that Depeche Mode vibe across! Love it smile

The synth line is definitely reminiscent of Depeche Mode especially once it really gets going.  I didn't catch the lyric lift although I couldn't understand everything.  Got me bobbing my head along though!

Ooooh I love it! The reso play on the drums is top notch heart I hear the DM in there but I'm also getting Bowie vibes, might be from the vocal delivery in places, I'm not sure! Either way I'm in synth wonderland and it's the song is going in my favorites smile

Awesome! Really dig it... I agree, mega Bowie viiiiibes... BoOm!

Great stuff this week!  Agree with Gab on the Bowie vibes, def heat the depeche mode, and even has tints on tears for fears.  Well done

Punchy. Your voice even has a bit of Martin Gore sound to it. ::)

This is legit good! Super well done!

Thanks! you hear it right? Not intentional but the pacing of the song and instruments just went that direction.

Good to hear, thanks! I had a blast making this one. I didn't lift the lyric verbatim. I riffed on (mangled) the line "I'm taking a ride with my best friend" as a reference to Never Let Me Down Again

Thanks! I take both the Bowie reference and your approval as the highest form of praise as I am fans of both smile

Thanks! I did not hear the Bowie style when creating the song but maybe I should have put on my red shoes and danced the blues... maybe next week.

Interesting reference and seems right in terms of production style. Tears for Fears is not something I would not have thought but the dense layering of synths may be more of their style than the sometimes sparse arrangements of DM. The reverb is very Depeche Mode though.

Thanks! I am pleased with my mix this week compared to some prior distorted hot messes I've posted. Vocals are always a challenge but happy to channel some Gore!

Thanks for the positive words! I had fun and got some good practice in on my mixing. I think I'm learning smile

The intro is a little right skewed, but you're nailing what you're going for.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be revisiting the mix and will check out the balance.

Nicee, I can really feel the bass on this heart Really good vocals, they remind me a little of the Gorillaz (watch out for those s and t sounds though!) wink I love the sound design on this tune, its so warm and sits perfectly heart Great work!

definitely reminds me of depeche mode, not an easy feat to nail their sound, wow!

Wow! Sound is real good! Vocals are sweet... I am not listening to DM alot but indeed i think you nailed it...
These synths are hell groovy and i love these spaced out disco toms big_smile

don't know Depeche Mode very well, but I sure liked this.  what a hit - and great vocals!

oh the synth stuff is sooo fun & very DM!  vocal treatment is great!
