The Bitter Aftertaste of Stealing

By Nuelijarma on September 29, 2018 9:49 pm

Quite proud of some parts of this one. Yet I still feel like this song is not mine, as the initial idea (the bass line that runs throughout the track) is borrowed from another song (can you guess which?). I feel like this has to do with some form of impostor syndrome.

Anecdote: the fade-out is created by creating multiple copies of the same instrument, with slightly different parameters each time (noisier, more detuned and with less volume).

Made with the Marabu music tracker.

I have no clue whose idea it initially was. But I like it! It sounds a bit like something Depeche Mode could've done. But i am probably way off!

Lots of music these days use all sorts of borrowed bits and the only way to be truly original is to dive deep into music theory. One of the bass lines is just an arpeggio, so it could come from literally anywhere. The other, deeper bass is pretty slick though and the lead has a very nice ring to it.
