Jusqu'à tard

A new song! Fifty to go!

Some reflections on this week:
- a bit frustrated with chords on the m8. For this song I had to dedicate 3 channels for them, leaving me with only 5, plus jumping between them is awkward. Rendering them is a possibility, but I'd rather take another route and see where this constraint takes me.
- I bought a SD card adapter. No more using my phone as one, this is too tiresome.
- I managed to listen to every song from week 1. You all rock. I was nice recognizing artists from last time. May your year be creative and happy smile

This creates quite a nice little vibe.  It feels positive and uplifting and touched with a little bit of magic.  Also I'm impressed you were able to listen to every song from week 1.  I'm trying to cast a wide net, but listening to 450+ songs is a tall order!

Chords on the M8 is a recurring point of friction. If you don't want to resample then other options each with their own flavors and limitations are:
- the macro synth chord mode
- the FM synth with the modulation dialed down so you get 4 sinewaves
- fast chiptune arps
- hypersynth

I really like what you came up with this week tho. The breakbeat sits in the mix really well.

I also really like what you came up with. The limitations are what makes things interesting to make!

I wanted to elaborate on the list from Homeostatic (as someone who will take any opportunity to gush about the m8) in terms of ease of use for chords, from my perspective at least:

1. Hypersynth is the most direct way to approach chords on the m8. Lush, interesting aurally, phenomenal when laced with reverb and/or chorus. Literal piano roll to write chords on.
2. Arps are awesome, easy to use, but not always appropriate for the track.
3. Macrosynth chords are designed for a modular synth with like four knobs on it, so has a less orthodox approach to finding what you want.
4. The FM synth is the least approachable, but potentially most interesting option!

this is pretty great! And hey, ya got 50 weeks to figure out the best version for you of those suggested Chord workarounds.
