Traptalk

By noggin on September 25, 2022 12:26 pm

Kind of a smorgasbord of workflows all wrasslin with each other....
Our buddy @kaibuster was asking for tips on how to make a trap beat, so I whipped something up to demonstrate some common techniques. Well, I kind of liked it, so I put the m8 in poly mode and fleshed the rest out with 4 voices of fm.
Then it started to get out of hand with some drum slices I put together from some excellently prepped drum breaks by @Infu.
And finally, a last-minute mastering pass by our resident darling and good friend @ilzxc - thank you for that!

Really love the degrade automation on the fills, man. Also the PrimiFun-ness of that arp lead.

Brilliant. Gotta love the beat punching through the vast tails of reverb. Love the pulsating parts. It’s just perfect.

this sounds really great. good job.

You're starting to get a grip on what I do pretty much every time. Thanks again for your efforts on this- feels good to sound so good.

Thank you - ton of different m8 tricks to get all that in 8 tracks.

All hail @ilzxc

Thanks everybody for taking the time to listen and to comment!

This sounds amazing―there's a real danger that I actually will listen to it for 2 hours straight at some point. cool

I don't know which common techniques you were demonstrating, but a lot of the trap beats I hear around here would  benefit from them.  You have a cool way of looking at music.

Muchas gracias! Coincidentally enough I was jamming your Nightmares On... beat last night and just got sidetracked leaving you a comment.
