One Take

By Nik Novo on February 15, 2026 3:11 pm

I did not really feel like making music this week, and I had no real ideas on what to do besides that. The track I started first is fine-ish (and I might finish it one day), but I did not feel like continuing doing it.

So instead I tried a different approach: What if I record all the instruments in one take each? I started of by recording around 2 minutes of a pad and then added a few more instruments and recorded them all in one take (that is, if I didn't forget to hit the record button 🙃😂). The only things I "fixed in post" was when I accidentally hit a completely wrong note or when I did not like an instrument and removed it again. If the track sounds a bit wild and off-beat at times, this is the reason why.

Also, I was too lazy to record automation, so the track hardly has any

Good work finishing output for the week. Sounds better than you probably think. The intro swell is gorgeous!

this is a great vibe nonetheless big_smile

one take projects can be a fun way to break the monotony and also get thru the week.  Wouldn't have guessed it was a difficult_week from the sound of this.  The pad sounds lovely and feels like it could be a nice interlude/intro to the next track of an album.

this was a lovely take

Thanks! smile That interlude/intro idea is actually great, I will keep that in mind, should I put out another ambient EP at some point 🤔
