Riff-ublican (2007)

By Nickmaynard on March 4, 2018 9:50 pm

My new year's resolution for 2018 was "NO NEW PROJECTS". I have a difficult time finishing things I've started and because of this my hard drives are littered with unfinished songs and videos. Over the past two weeks, I've begun systematically sorting through this material, organizing it, deleting things, and finishing projects. This may not be exactly within the rules of Weekly Beats but I'd like to use it as a place to post this material. These songs may have been started years ago but were never finished, never mixed, and never shared before now.

In 2007, I wrote a series of dozen guitar riffs with the intention of starting a band with a few friends of mine. These were recorded into Garageband via the built in microphone of my MacBook. The band never happened but I was always fond of these guitar parts. They were slowly adapted into other songs (that I would eventually never release either, can you see a pattern?) but this year, I'm going back to these guitar parts and I am going to finally turn them in to full band recordings. The first step is to take this acoustic guitar parts and actually turn them in to proper demos. At the beginning of this file, you'll hear the original demo from 11 years ago and then you'll hear my 2018 version with full instrumentation.

woah nice track!

Good motivation, cleaning house is important.

It sounds like it goes slightly off-key somehow. It's still very nice though.
