Bar Fight

By NickLong on May 14, 2026 9:32 pm

This weeks weekly beats is a deliberately idiotic bit of glam metal.

The intension was to channel Kiss or one of those bands that are always talking about people trying to take your rock and roll away combined with the tongue in cheek nature of The Darkness or The Metal by Tenacious D.

Our hero enters a bar (lets imagine it's like the Country and Western Bar from the Blues Brothers) and naturally puts rock on the juke box. This triggers a fight with the metal hating locals.
Naturally our protagonist always has a "loaded six string on his back" like Bon Jovi and proceeds to shred so hard he destroys the whole bar which he rebuilds into a metal loving biker joint.

For music nerds its made with:
Synthesizer V Hxvoc on vocals
Modern and Massive on Drums
Neural Darkglass Ultimate on Bass
Neural Nameless, Misha and Gojira on guitars.
Bitwig as a DAW.

Nothing fancy this week, all 4/4 no key changes dumb as a rock I IV V.
People who have followed my other songs will notice I've finally honoured my promise to Henry to write a metal song with a lyric about boiled eggs.

Lyrics

I cross the bar
Nickel in my hand
I want to rock
Jukebox at my command
Some guy comes up and tells me
You can't play metal here
And now the fists are gonna fly
You stop my metal you're gonna die

Bar fight
Bar fight
It's gonna ignite
Bar fight
Bar fight
Makes me feel alright

I'm on the bar
Time to make my stand
I'm cracking heads like boiled eggs
Pool cue in my hand
There's 20 guys behind me
and 20 up ahead
Pull my guitar from off my back
It's gonna be a solo attack

TIME TO SHRED!

Bar fight
Bar fight
It's gonna ignite
Bar fight
Bar fight
Makes me feel alright

There's no more bar
There's just a crater here
I'm standing in the wreckage
Blowing smoke from my guitar
These fools have learned the power
Of god damned rock and roll
Rebuilt it as a biker club
We only play metal in my pub

Bar fight
Bar fight
It's gonna ignite
Bar fight
Bar fight
Makes me feel alright

Catchy! Nailed with the darkness references. Brings me back to watching random movies with the family during the 80s-90s.

Haha laughed out loud at "I'm in a bar fight, makes me feel alright" lol
Solid rock track. The only thing missing is some gang vocals shouting along with the chorus haha

Good point, should have done that!

These lyrics are so fun and catchy, this one gave me a huge smile, a music video for this would be epic, the last verse is so good "there's no more bar, there's just a crater here", that made me laugh out loud.

YESSSS HARD BOILED EGGS

You checked all the boxes on the Dumb Rock Tropes, and it's awesome. Great thick guitar sound, Synth V continues to impress with what it can do on vocals, and that solo rips. Also, that last verse just about broke me. Way, way over the top and amazing XD XD

This is like the SNL skit we all deserved but never got lol. Fantastic and hilarous lol heart

Proper Lonely Island vibes. I can see the music video right before my eyes.

woo!

Impressive!!! Guitars are super crisp, and those vocals are POWERFUL!!! Great stuff!

hell yais! \m/ love the solo oof! "Bar fight Bar fight Makes me feel alright!" stuck in my noggin eternally! Love it!

Haha nice one! Getting Matt Stone and Trey Parker vibes here for some reason smile That solo rips!

Actually a perfect soundtrack for a scene like that big_smile

I'm glad that landed. I just wanted to keep going more and more over the top until it was just kind of hilarious.

Thank you!

I did a bit more work with Automation on Synth V this week to get a more realistic sounding performance.
Super stoked to get the boiled eggs reference in.

Love that you guys referenced SNL, I hadn't considered that, but I'm a huge Lonely Island fan and "Threw it on the ground" gets referenced at home allt he time.

"WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD JACKASS!"

Glad you sound it catchy. Solo tone was archetype Gojira and I was trying to channel Ace Frehley in the first half and Joe Satriani in the final pick tapped run.

Smash!

Bar brawl! Nice one lol

Lololol delightfully juvenile, like a kid wrote the lyrics with what he imagined average adults did at a bar after watching an action movie with a barfight scene. Thanks for the laugh smile
