You've Just Ticked Your Last Tock

By Nestrogen on January 23, 2022 11:13 pm

I had been listening to a bit of early 80's punk and hardcore and wanted to see if I could get the dead, tubby sound of that era's toms along with a dead snare and outside kick mic.
The rest...just happened.

fuck, this is so good, as fan of 80s punk and hardcore, this is really on point! FIST FIGHT!!!!!

DOPE! It has that punk sound for sure. Good ending too

Yes, break the wb playlist with some punk
Good lyrics

Nice job achieving those sounds! Great performances, fun tune. Good work!

instantly transported to warped tour 2001

Ugghhh, so legit! You really captured the tropes to a T here. The intro is so on point. The vocals got that snobby old hardcore dgaf. I could go on and on about this shit. Wonderful work. 12/10, would add this song to my Tiktok vids

Rock yeah!!!

This sounds very right.  Love those punk songs. Energie is right on!

This is really good, drums (and everything) sounds fantastic!

holy shit! Punkrock forever!

I cut out circles from an old pillow case and taped them to my toms. I had 2 overheads, a top snare, rack and floor tom and an outside kick mic. I usually use an inside kick mic, a bottom snare and a mono room in conjunction with the aforementioned mic setup. Wanted to try something a little less pretty for this.

That's awesome!  You say 'less pretty' but that's hi-fi compared to my one-mic-bandit operations.

2 questions if you don't mind:

1) what are your overheads?
2) what do you connect all these microphones into before going into (I'm assuming) a computer?
3) if you were going to do a two microphone recording, what would you do?
