Phaser - notes from a Roland GP-100 and a better time in the world. Sort of.

So I have a Roland rack mount GP-100 for guitar. I think I got it in the late 90's. It can get any sound in the world (so long as that sound is a Roland JC-120 or the phaser sound you hear in this).

Perhaps you remember the late 90's... The internet was becoming a thing, everyone was getting a computer, home studios were losing the embarrassment factor, people in the states didn't want to kill each other (as much as now), Chicago was on the map musically. Maybe its always been as bad or good as ones attitude permits. Dunno.

Heres to the shotgun shack I was living in back then, happy in spite of it all.

horrifying noise experiments continue next week.

Oh man, the late 90s is split perfectly down the middle--it either needs this _exact_ phaser sound, or it needs a supersaw. No exceptions.

Tune reminds me of Eight Days a Week. The 90s movie about the kid who stays on the girl's lawn all summer, not the Beatle's song. I'm pretty sure 100% of the songs on the soundtrack have this sound in them, haha.

Oh shit, the end! Around 1:50 this goes all in.

Genuinely love this so much. The thing I'm super hung up on is that it doesn't sound like a love letter to another time. You think about The Darkness and things like that where they're representing this idea of another era and you get this dialed up imitation. This is just _of the time_ like a lost recording.

Makes me want to go watch Pete and Pete for some reason. Whatever, it's brilliant. You killed it.
