Thank you all for an awesome year. This track is all the same instruments as W45 but made in a completely different way. I replaced my Focusrite interface with the new Zoom Livetrak L-6. I used renoise to sequence my synths, then mixed and recorded into the L-6. A little mastering in Audacity and here we are. It's not my favorite track in the world but I'm really enjoying the new workflow.
I made 30 tracks this year. Week 1 was the first week I ever used Renoise, now I have it running an external rack of gear. Before this year, I was almost entirely using samples and now I am entirely generating my own sounds on analog gear. I greatly increased my knowledge of music theory and how to apply it to composition, especially when it comes to chords. I focused on breakbeat this year and started the year without really knowing how to chop and process a break. I went from samples others had created, to my own recorded samples from streaming, to ripping the original vinyl, to generating breaks on a drum machine. I learned how to mix and master from absolutely no knowledge to feeling confident in it. I bought synthesizers, countless cables and made instruments like the lap steel guitar and spring board. It was an incredibly productive year and I still feel like I'm just getting started.
Most importantly, I started the year not knowing any of you and now I am going to miss you next year. Thanks for an incredible year.
