More jungle this week. I hooked up my SR-16 to Renoise via MIDI and started experimenting with programming live breaks on it. I have been inspired by Starpowerdrummer and want to try recreating with a realistic sounding drum machine. It took a minute to set up but now that I have it working more experimenting to come. Another MIDI thing i figured out was how to send a Program Control from Renoise to the Pro-800 to change the preset. I was especially pleased with this because it is undocumented so there was a bunch of experimentation involved. I was also influenced to do field recordings with a contact mic so I have some of that going on too. Thanks for listening!

Indeed, this does seem like it would pair well with gummy eye balls and teeth, hahahaha...
I'm enjoying the high energy drum breaks paired with the relentless acid synth, very cool!

You come up with a really fat and asskicking beat. Good to hear the technical MIDI experiments have been successful.
Unfortunately the contact mic recordings in here could not be discovered. Have a nice week.

The moment that acid synth comes in is a total rave moment, and I really like the drops and breaks along the way, there's some excellent groove-building moments that really explode with tension and deep bass and wow but honestly? The environmental and ambient noise recordings are doing sooo much here. There's a real energy produced by how you've integrated them under some of the builds, it's tremendously effective! Awesome track!

The natural break is fantastic. Harmonically this is very minimal, but I guess that was the plan.

I'm with neon on the "rave moment." This has that... oh shit we're being beamed out of the warehouse... vibe the jungle room always gave me. Love the real world sounding drums. I'm all for synthesized madness, but when you're thinking about where breaks come from... Gregory Coleman wasn't programming a 909 for the Winstons.

So good

Thanks Neon! I always look forward to reading your feedback. Thanks for the close listen and your kind words. I appreciate you!

thanks rplktr! it definitely has less punch than the sampled break. I compressed it a lot and added some distortion but I will continue to experiment with it. I like it because I can dial in the drum sounds, but it has less overall atmosphere. more to come!

Thanks jbarket! I appreciate your comments about the break. I'm pretty sure this is how dnb started with people wanting cleaner and deeper drums and starting to replace the samples from the classic breaks. I'm not sure where I will land with it but I am enjoying the process so far. more to come!
