Harmonic Divide

Well, made it through my fist week at the new job... and I found I had very little energy for writing... so I have another ambient soundscape for this week.  It's always nice to just get lost layering sounds up for these, and I definitely needed the "zone out".

As is often the case with these, I don't really know where I was going with it or where it came from, I just started with a Pharlight granular patch, and just kept adding layers until I was getting too lost in listening to add anything new.  Loads of processing on pretty much everything in here... but I think the one sound that I'm most pleased with is that "bell" like tone.  That's actually the CS-80 V again... because I kind of want that synth on everything still.

At any rate, almost there y'all... almost there.

woah that cs-80 sounds great!  This is a lovely spectrum of sound.  Feels like i'm witnessing the rapid growth of civilizations.  The bell is so ominous yikes  oooh and those guttural low tones at the end.  yais! excellent work!

I'm really impressed with the amount of tension you opened with to then release into some excellent dark tones.  The flow is great and I never felt jarred into any of the changes to pitch or texture.  The use of what I am assuming are metal grating samples were a very nice touch, invoking the opening of old gates or metal on metal in a derelict.  Very well done

glad you survived week 1! kind of an intense week to start a new job...

another magic soundscape from you. you know i love this direction  smile
and yeah, that bell is so nice

an entrancing, dense, soundscape! both whimsical and foreboding. I like the subtle whispery sounds.great bells too. nice work smile

I've been SOOOO obsessed with that sound... I ended up getting a Deckard's Voice for my modular, just because I love that tone soooo much.

Thank you, these are always nice to just zone out while making, and I think that's what leads to the flow... normally I'm just aiming to get lost myself in the soundscape.

Thanks so much, and yeah no joke... I probably should have thought about what Nov 1 meant in terms of like general stress levels BEFORE I picked that as a start date.

I'm glad you picked up on the whispery sounds, one of my favorite things about using Pharlight is granular processing of human voices, and I always think that makes for strangely compelling tones.
