Ambiant Piano in Ebm

By Napear on January 14, 2024 10:12 pm

This is my first (ever) submission to Weekly Beats (I only found out about it like 2 hours before week one was due).  Nothing complicated this week, just a little felt piano that I drowned in delay and reverb to add some floaty ambient vibes.

VSTs

  • Una Corda VSTi

  • Replica XT

  • Raum

Absolutely wonderful! Equal parts melancholy and joy. Feels like an extremely needed hug

Welcome!  Nice vibe.  Love the reverb usage and the way it flows around - especially into the bridgey bit at around the minute and a bit mark.  Good luck on the WB journey. It's quite the mission...

I love that description. I watched The Boy and the Heron this week, and I feel like it had an outsized impact on this track.

Thanks, I have been a little bit obsessed with Replika XT for the last few weeks, and almost all of the movement in this track is coming from that one plugin.

welcome, nice idyllic tune

green grass blowing in the wind, huge white clouds floating in the blue sky

Love the piano sounds and background reverb, the whole composition indeed feels like a nice Miyazaki movie.
Good luck on the WB journey!

I sympathize—I also found out about weeklybeats too late to make week 1 (in 2022), but I'm glad that didn't stop you from joining—this is a great track with a strong mood and good production

I like the composition. Feels like a found piano in a not so good situation, being played emotionally to forget for a few moments and get lost in the music. Sounds like the recording was found in some hard disk with some minor damage so the bits are a bit scrambled adding some digital noise to the track. All in all a vibe.

Diggin those melancholic vibes in the chord progression.  The waltzy feel gave me visions of the protagonist visiting their childhood home that is now just dust n memories.  *lightscandle*

Super cool to hear the Una Corda being used. I often use one of the other NI pianos but this beautiful composition has me reconsidering that. It adds a nice and gentle percussive element to this song. You did a great job at your arrangement of the piano performance smile

Alicia's Keys is (by far) my favorite NI piano, and I use Noire and Mavrick quite a lot, but for that intimate close mic piano sound, you're hard pressed to do much better than Una Corda.  Though I do find that it takes a lot of tweaking to dial the sound in.  And, yeah that's kind of every VST, but Una Corda more than like Mavrick or The Gentalman. Getting the right balance of the dampers, pedal noise, room noise, string resonance, etc, etc is non-trivial, but I think totally worth it.

NGL drowning piano in reverbs is one of my favourite thing to do. Super good mood here + I like the layer of mechanical noise for the piano

I love all the imagery that this track seemed to conjure up.  Thanks for the comments.

I love floating down the reverb river. I wonder if we can do something with that. For now though, gonna let myself get carried by the currents.
