Mystic Jungle

By myfirstpunksong on December 29, 2024 2:26 pm

Wasn't feeling inspired this week. Feel like I'm falling over the line that is the end of the year and that was reflected in how inspired I felt for this week's beat.

So I went for the ultimate in creative constraints: no guitar and a one note song (ok so I only played one note and the synths and pad did the rest of the work).

What went well
Glad I was checking out other beats in garageband. Some of what I'd call house/club beats I found I think actually convert pretty well to a rock kit, and I did use that as a starting point before deciding that today I just don't have the energy to pick up the guitar. Still, I'm excited about the possibilities in the future.
Always a win to sit down to make music and submit something.
Enjoyed playing with different sounds. Nice to do something different,.
Submitting at 9:20pm, nice and early, so I can hopefully somewhat recover my sleep cycle going into 2025 and not be up at like 4am and waking up at like midday lol.

Even Better If
Let's cut myself some slack on this one and say I did what I could with where I'm at.

Thank you to all of you in this community. Anyone who has listened, commented and given feedback (sometimes very generously!) to any of my music, thank you. I've gained and learnt a lot from weekly beats and this community. I enjoy the community aspect, the personable element, and picking up tips and tricks that helping me on the way and helping me make better sounding noises! Some really talented people here and some damn good music too smile

Thanks and best wishes to you all in 2025. Wish you a good entry into the year, year as a whole, and I'll see you in 2026 wink

Much love and warm wishes.

I rather dig this, there is a kind of sonic hypnotism in it.  I don't know if you play video games but one of the themes in Alan Wake 2 is the idea of being trapped in loops and I got a similar feeling listening to this.  I hope you find your sleep patterns, I am all too familiar with 4am myself.

It's true, you don't normally make this music, but I think it holds its own very well. And maybe unexpectedly for you it fits very well as a closing track of the year. Sort of an end titles music situation. Chill, reflective, calm, spacious. And that arp at the end is literally a post credits scene!

Cheers! Hope 2025 treats you well.

Huge smile on my face from the get-go!

Nope, you definitely don’t make music like this all the time, but it reflects what I dearly love about weekly beats: creating even when you’re not entirely feeling it, and exploring new sounds! This community is amazing for venturing out of your comfort zone and just trying something new.

And that said - I dig this! Love the vocal sample/chop you built the track around, and the whole track has such great texture and ambience. Absolutely agree with everything rplktr said - it’s a perfect ending to the year.

And woo hoo! We made it to the end! So enjoyed your tracks this year - here’s to more music in ‘25…and to WB ‘26!

Haha the 4am club, quite different to the 5am club.

Thanks for listening and all your comments this year, I’ve enjoyed them!

Happy new year and wish you well this year!

I enjoy your comments almost as much as your music! Haha ok that’s maybe a stretch, your music is ace but thanks again dude. Love what you said about crating even when not feeling it, and WB is the ultimate for practicing that! Hope to have some kind of practice this off year to keep it up.

Yea we made it!

Best wishes and plentiful music for 2025 and before we fire up for WB 26!
