thirst trap

By mwmwmw on February 9, 2026 12:01 am

a deeply sardonic, stupid pop song about parasocial sexual fantasy. my spouse called it "easily the most annoying song you've ever made" HA.

it's a kind of response song to the 2-3 random "sexy girl" instagram follows/dms i get each month. i wanted nothing derogatory, misogynist, or violent. It's earnest and celebratory. like "wow i can't believe she's into me", pre catfish letdown as a sort of asking... who falls for this?

thirst trap was fully produced on a Dirtywave M8 model 2. I even used the internal mic to record the vocals. I did load then up on the computer to run a denoising algorithm (CLarity VX) on them, but just to clear out room noise

i can't actually sing the vocal for the hook, but I did my best.

so cringe along with me to thirst trap

Fixed version is much better! Ask Wisefire for a late upload link on the Discord so you can replace the crackly one. (And seriously, I love this track, you nailed the mood).

Replaced!

Love the bass line. It's got like 80s? Rnb vibes.

Like "Please Don't Go Girl" by New Kids On The Block only with 1000x worse singing? XD

Oooh sleeezy....

You know what? I love stupid pop songs. And this track just works for me. A groovy trap beat exposé.

All the best, Peace!!

This came on the random playlist while driving home, that beat is dope, this is so different then anything else on weeklybeats, brought me back to the old days of hitting up the bars and clubs in the University days.  From memory I think you are from Edmonton?  Transporting me back to useless wasted nights at Juice or Rum Jungle (embarrassing, I know).

OMG, lol well at least it didn't remind you of Oil City Roadhouse lol.

Therapy, The Rev, Majestic (nobody remembers but they had hard house thursdays) that was where I hung out because I lived downtown. Occasionally i'd journey out to the mall for Reds of Rum Jungle lol. if i HAD to (for a girl). XD

Yeah! sick, you get it.

I dig this, feels like a different direction for you from what I'm used to, but I dig it!

Also side note, I had no idea you were doing weeklybeats, but I'm so excited you are! I seriously lamented (internally) that you weren't doing it, so I was legitimately excited when I heard your track on weeklymeets.

I can't remember now why I made this track. Sometimes I just get a brainwave and run with it. Valentines Day?

Don't worry i have plenty of regular scheduled witchcraft.

Next time don't lament, just be like "WHERE ARE THE TRACKS?"
