fechnerite

totally forgot to fill in the description box this week.

this track is in 9/8 time which gives the beat a bit of a limp. It ends up a little waltzy because I find that is the most natural rhythm my ear goes to with the 3 groups of 3 eight notes.

I did a bunch of work on the scale too, so no idea what that is. It's detuned all over the place but sounds fine to me.

Really cool descending lines. Love the percussion that comes in at 1min, dat bass @ 2:30 nasssssty! Love all the elements swirling around that dirty bass. Well done!

I was jamming out on the lunch room speaker, and at the end, I pulled the cable out but the speaker was still on and it did that 60hz buzz. Everyone thought it was part of the track lol, so I just made that big stupid bass and put it in full throttle.

Ha thats amazing! now that I listen to it again I can hear that familiar buzz as the origin

Damn, great mix! Did you use post processing? Or is this 100% M8?

Just the m8 limiter and a bit of extra multiband limiting on the final mix to squeeze it all in. But a light touch.

so rad. absolutely love the lilting drums, love the descending line and that bass halfway through just tears people to shreds. one of my favorites from this week so far.

Fantastic work, love the ambient breakdowns heart

Oh hell yes. Love this track and the choice of time signature!

Sweet breakdown section indeed. Sounds lovely.

Sounded great, I must be a Fechnerite.

That bass is DIRTY!!! And yeah, the arrangement is fantastic.  Very nicely done.

Sometimes you just need a big raw square wave to rip through the whole track.

Usually I make a few synth riffs, soak em in reverb, resample, drop them down an octave, and then reapply effects. It gives it a sort of infinity, in infinity sort of feel as the pitched down reverb is re-reverbed. Sometimes I layer them up into chords, then resample that and do it again.

Yeah I am enjoying playing with time sigs, which I used to do a lot in older trackers.

Or made of Fechnerite (which AFAIK is not real and I'm making it up right now).
