Unbroken Woods

I'm incredibly happy with the way this turned out (but am always looking for feedback!). I feel like this culminated in a style that represents my desires in making music: atmospheric, driving, complex, building, and layered. I'd love to make music to long scenes in videography (animations, film, shorts) or levels/areas in video games/interactive fiction.

This was mostly composed on a Roli Seaboard 2 in groups of 6 bars of 3/8 time, which is what gives it that rushed feeling. 3/8s is weird. Audio leveling was really hard, and I still don't feel like I got it right, especially around the transitions.

All audio samples are public domain, including this picture from Anton Atanasov on Pexels, which I feel captures a bit of the mood of the piece:

Listening to this now through buds, I really need to work on mixing. The woodwind gets lost not just in the nose but almost muffled. Is it compositional? Gain? Pan? I don't want simplify my music but I want to add separation.

I actually don't feel like the woodwind is lost, but I am sure that is subjective. I do think some of the percussion could have been reduced a bit. This gave me fantasy movie vibes. I loved it. Nice work!
