Machine Learnings

By Mulkaccino on February 1, 2026 11:30 pm

I was playing with some loops in Arturia's Minifreak digi synth and experimenting with all the knobs. Knobs do things, right? So I tried twisting them. Knobs do things. Added some more drum parts, some light n' easy transitions, and some keys but was still looking for some richer, for playful, and that I haven't done berore. Found a funky MPE synth and just went nuts on the XY pad and a slider the second half of the song.

Learnings:
1. Improving rhythm while going nuts (I'm still ahead of the beat a bit)
2. Editing MPE data is hard because there is a lot of it. Is there a way to quantize MPE data into curves (bezierize?) for easier editing?
3. Twisting knobs does things. Imagine if someone figured out how to assign knobs to parameters. That person would be a genius.

Thank you for the listen, music makers.

I love those drums and how the funky synths move around the rhythm like a didgeridoo heart

The machines are learning!!! The leads/basses on this felt like stirring my brain into a nice warm soup

The rhythmic elements at the start are really great, very machine-like. Love the chopped up stuff later, really tickles my brain! Great work smile

angry dentist type beats, v awesome

loved the complexity in this one, and the contrast of the core of it to the intro and outro. and the outro even sounded like an outro! how you do that? mine just...end. yours had like a nice close out cymbal splash of perfection.
