LUMIGI

After last week's dark soundscape, I wanted to do something a bit lighter/happier. Playing around with the mikey303 ravepack that comes pre-loaded on the M8, I made a shimmery lead that drives most of the track. I definitely went a bit heavy on it, and probably should have made it a bit more sparse at parts. I think the drums get a bit too repetitive, and are a bit odd at points, but they mostly work. The single word vocal samples come from a sample pack on Sample Focus, created by Simon L, and the longer phrases come from a LANDR sample pack.

Any feedback is appreciated!

I was thinking of good names for this track based on the vocals, and ultimately landed on LUMIGI since it is an Esperanto word that means to illuminate or shine light on; basically meaning, "to make aware."

The gif is a sped up video that I shot while riding the Haruka Express from Kansai International Airport to Kyoto Station.

Absolutely love Mikey’s pack. He is an absolute joy.

The track though. Dude, I love it. Bright and happy and _driving_. As far as going sparser is concerned, maybe in terms of arrangement, but it doesn’t feel crowded to me. When we’ve got the vocal, our blippy friend from the start, and the additional lead they’re all occupying fairly distinct places.

I’m super partial to shinmery, bright sounds though. The kick pattern when it’s just slamming is great too.

I loved it

Thanks! After listening to it over and over, it's easy for me to pick it apart; but I am pretty happy with it!

I miss having mids in this, but it's undoubtedly cheery.

I quite like the top melody. Nice bright vibes with nice crunchy drums - punchy kick.

Definitely heavy on the highs and lows 😬
