The Plateau

By muhamor on January 25, 2026 1:08 am

Week 4! Wild that we're here.

A bit of a shorter track from me this week. I feel ok with how it turned out, but I might revisit it in a future week and expand it.

I wanted to do another DnB/jungle track to get some more practice with the genre. This week, I tried composing breakbeats with one-shot samples. It's hard! I also wanted to explore layering sounds, and composing a melody with piano samples. Title is "The Plateau" because I wish I could have spent some more time on the drop/middle section and make a better drop smile

Thanks for listening!

Well it's a pleasure to listen to!

Nice melody; the track felt like it could easily have some more in the tank

Sexy spaciousness complementing a snappy beat: love it!

love how filthy the bass gets when the beat comes in. i dig it

Sounds great! I especially like the chords that comes in at ~1:50 and continues to the end cool

Love the top line combo with the fuzzy bass and big pad. Piano layer is really nice too. Great track!

this is excellent - love the deep boiling synth

Thank you! Yea it took a while to put the basics of this together and I was feeling pretty spent by Saturday. I definitely want give it another pass later in the year.

thank you both for the listen! I really tried to crank up all the filter cutoffs and distortion on it. You can get some pretty fun sounds out of 4 slightly detuned saw/Square waves

nice track! smile digging the piano especially

Ohhh I love those big airy pads in the background. And nice work on the one-shot breakbeat. I think you've done well choosing your drums sounds.

thank you! It took a bit of experimentation to get it down. I was trying to work together a mix of acoustic and synthesized instruments.
