confused sand everywhere around us

By muhamor on February 15, 2026 11:01 pm

Week 7! It's pretty wild to me that I made it this far. Things are starting to feel a little easier. Listening to all the music on here is so humbling and inspiring.

While I don't have much experience writing lyrics or singing, I wrote a free-form poem to to accompany this piece.

Thanks for listening!

thank you for the poem. it's difficult to understand how we got here. i believe a better world is possible.
this was a very cool and interesting track to listen to!

The poem really set the scene for the track. Interesting rhythms throughout and I really like the sound design. Good stuff!

The delay on this is super vibey.

Big menacing bass as well.

yee i like how we are rewarded with the bass 2/3 of the way through. Interesting composition, thank you! oh, and the poem hits for sure.

Very interesting track! I think you nailed the rhythms in this for sure. The first half is especially amazing and the composition is very unique. A treat to listen to!

Thank you! It was kind of a last-minute addition, but it also felt pretty fitting for the week that I had

Thank you! Sometime recently I discovered that delay echoes any big changes in timbre (including briefly popping up the filter !)

Thank you! If you're curious, this tutorial video was the original inspiration. Ableton seems like it can get pretty unhinged with this stuff, but replicating it with m8 is kinda tricky -_-.

Love the creative use of arps to get that effect.  It feels like this needs a video of sand reacting to this off a speaker.  Oooh that synth bass that comes in sounds like the central servers were just infiltrated by evil AI entities.  Excellent work.

"like sands through the hourglass... these are the days of our lives"

is it comforting or disturbing to know that the world is running out of sand?
i feel of two minds about it...

this track is excellent - poem resonates

the high priests of the sand-worshippers will attempt to convince us that the confusion is because we do not believe. the super hard bass synth halfway through will shake us out of our capitulation and remind us that mangled machines come from mangled men.

super solid - like particles of sand.

So good! Love the trance gates, and when that kick comes in, ugh this goes so hard!

Thank you heart. hmm that's a really fun idea for a visual. The past few weeks I've been thinking a lot about contrasts and the bass felt like it would be a nice complementary addition to the pads in this. It was kind of a last minute addition to try and convey some rage/anger.

Aww thank you for the listen heart. I'm totally here for this lore continuation. "mangled machines come from mangled men" is gonna stick with me for a while
