More speedtrash! I always have a bunch of weird sounds that aren't really musical and don't fit with anything, but they were fun to make. I don't even know what's up with this one, but at least it's short! Shout out to FalseTragedian on the WB Discord for posting the vocorder samples in the Community Garden - they were just the right texture to make it sound like I had a plan when I super did not have one at ALL.

My vocoder trash is honored to be a part of your speedtrash.

... Unironically.

I liked the octave-down portamento bits. And i love short tracks!

I don't know what's up with it either, but it's got some good energy and fun sounds bubbling up.  Short is good, but I could have hung out in this space a little longer.

great collection of sounds arranged with groooooove.

Very weird vibe to this song. I can't put my finger on what it makes me feel. But it's something!

I like it, man!
Need to check out that community garden too!

No plan is a plan right?

This is wizardry. Winging it is always the most calculated plan anyone can have!

….But the title makes me a little skeptical lol, just messin around!

"Weird assemblage of sounds" always makes me think "soundtrack." Here, it's a space battle: growly bass and muffled loudspeaker vox foreshadow the first lasers, a sustained-pluck melody scores hairpin turns through an asteroid field, and grainy tube-like alarms sound in the background. Lovely sound design, and I can't recommend narrativising your tracks enough

Squelchy. Mixed with what feels like slashes by a sword of bits.

always interesting what people call speed trash and how they are able to put something together in short order with more variation than I do when trying my hardest!

Of course unironically, because your vocorder trash is a treasure! Thank you so much for sharing it!

I really should do more short tracks. Sometimes I think I stretch stuff WAY beyond when it was interesting.
And I do also love those big portamento dips. They tickle my lizard brain.

Thanks! Hopefully in the future I can figure out what to do with it.

Ha ha thank you! I'm trying to work more with grooves to keep things less mechanical.

If I made you feel something, I'm honoured!

No plan is my usual plan, so I guess you are right!

Ha ha the title is kind of an admonishment to the part of my brain that said, "Oh, this is a good idea, I can make an entire song out of this!" before I actually tried doing it and nothing seemed to make any sense. It's weird - sometimes I'll sit down and a track just falls out of my brain and even my fingers can't keep up. And other times I just sit there with no ideas and it feels like I've got lead weights tied to my fingers and brain. The creative process is weird.

heart Sweet! The sound design is all I really had going, but I'm super happy to hear the track managed to evoke some cool imagery!

Squelchy with sharp bits is kinda my speedtrash M.O. wink

See - (thank you, but) - see, this is what I think CONSTANTLY! I see people post stuff and they're like "I didn't have any time so I put this together in 15 minutes with two paperclips and a cotton bud" (*ahem*cough*JEGASUS*) and it's the most amazing piece of music. And then there's me, cranking away for 8 hours of constant struggle. I feel your pain!

Now, that's not to say I don't get lucky sometimes - in WB 2024 there were a couple speedtrash creations that gelled and eventually became proud moments. But more often than not I feel like I'm pedalling harder than the rest of the team in this weird musical Tour de France.

I'm visualising Marble zone from Sonic 1 from this one.
Dig it!

MISTER DOCTOR CAT, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN!

subterranian mining type vibes on this work. glassy sega stabs in there too!

This feels like an 80s movie intro, remade for the megadrive tie in game

This is some fantastic curated noise - absolutely musical with a great early experimental 80s feel. I just got cEvin Key’s Brap and Forth volume 8, and this track has a similar sort of flavor as his early work. Awesome smile

Weird and noisy in all the right ways. big_smile
