Bad Mans

I tried to do a Halloween-ish thing but it doesn't sound a whole lot different to my normal stuff (A/B/A/end). Oh well. This is kind of an exercise in manipulating cutoff values to create transitions. Pulled a Paisleyfrog and pitched down a vocal sample from an old movie smile

Awesome. I think Carnival of Souls has been in my sample fodder folder for years and I haven’t used it yet. As per normal, great samples and clipping.

Really like the percussiveness of this one - all lays against the pads well, and gives a great backdrop for the clips to play against. Speaking of which, the middle slow section is really effective.

I am very amused that this week you “pulled a paisleyfrog”. This week I pulled a MRDRCAT and created a sampler instrument so I could rhythmically play my sample big_smile

Great use of those samples (underrated film that) and I think you pulled off a Halloween feel for sure, albeit a more modernised one. I mean the opening synths have pretty strong Carpenter vibes, it doesn't get more Halloween than that.  Nice work

Excellent sound design on the track. I almost wish the particular syllables of the vocal sample were chopped separately so it could be more rhythmical across the track, like at the very end. But it's a good listen anyway!

haha, quite literally! It's funny, because it's true.

Ha! I love it! Your track is FANTASTIC and gave me a few ideas for how I can mix up the sample use in my tracks. I've been out MRDRCAT-ed by a frog! I think my fave sample use in my tracks so far is the recipe voice in Recipe for Misanthropy. I'd love to do something like that again.

I appreciate the kind words! I only started chopping the vocals rhythmically at the very last minute as I was running out of time (not much time to work on music this past week) and I knew it was a missed opportunity. Thank you for commenting on the sound design - it's something I feel I struggle with, so it's good to know I'm getting better!

This is super cool, the synth sound design on this one is super pleasing. They compliment the vocal samples really well!!! And the vocal chops are weird and glitchy, which is always appreciated hahahah...
