I had originally done the skeleton of this as a cheesy local radio DJ intro for the M8 Community Jam. It was designed to start with the stinger, get the bass/synth/kick/snare going right away, then duck under the DJ's voice, so it didn't need to be good. Eight bars and done. But I liked how it turned out, cheese and all (hey everyone likes a good cheese). It begged to be expanded. I was going to try adding a bunch of tape saturation/distortion, but the right samples, detuning, and filter got close enough.

Fantastic, you can submit empty comments here big_smile

In any case, I just wanted to say: that bass is chef's kiss. But as usual I have to complain about tracks under 2 minutes. whine whine whine.

That bass is my new obsession. I did have this track at 3:20, but the extra section just wasn't working - it was messy and unfocussed compared to the rest, so I cut it. I agree it needs a distinct b-section. Hopefully after WB I'll have more breathing room to revisit some of these with a little more experience under my belt!

Nice! I totally could see this being the intro for some morning news show too! Camera pans in over the city, sun rises, Ninja Turtles sneaking back into the sewer after cleaning up crime... April O'Neil on the scene...

I can see the McGyver-esque graphics! Explosions! News!

I agree, that bass tone is amazing. Buzzy and thick but doesn’t overpower the other parts at all. That breakdown at 1:05 or so gave the whole thing the perfect amount of breathing room and variety.

I actually love the length of this - high energy, makes its statement and gets out. Almost punk that way!

Gotta agree the bass is cool.  I also liked that opening synth bloop.  It got my attention right away.
