Welcome to my version of speedtrash! After abandoning the first few ideas, I soldiered on with this one, throwing things at the wall to see what stuck, and then nailing them there when they didn't. It's...much. There's no plan, no finesse, and not much thought put into sound design, mixing, etc.

You know, like usual, but worse! It's wild what happens when the world is on fire and you can't concentrate on creating art.

The kick is a Perkons from Mars sample, but the rest of the percussion is all bits of a Soma Ether sweep of my living room, and the stuttered voicelike sounds are from the Rumble of Ancient Times, sampled, chopped, and randomised. Synth patches are all mine.

Entertaining description at the least.  Haha.

It did sound like you put a chunk of creative effort in still even if you don't feel like you did!  A fun track really.
How are you finding the Ether?

Hee thanks! I did a lot of fiddling on this one, but the whole time felt kinda like pulling teeth. There are a few bits I like well enough to steal for other tracks later.
The Ether is great fun. It's a little limited, obviously, unless you enjoy collecting noise or exploring the EMF around you (which I sometimes get the itch for). The practical value for me is the ability to get some wild sounds I can then mangle and process to create stuff I normally wouldn't think of using regular synths and sounds. You can probably get 90% there using an AM radio, but there's something about the Ether that feels more rich, sound-wise.

Oh whoops, I've got an Ether.  Haha.  I thought it was one of their other devices that I don't have.

And some tracks just take one change to make it work.  My latest track wasn't quite finished until I added acoustic guitar but I wasn't gelling with the end solo.  I edited and mixed it heaps etc.  In the end, I just recorded a completely new idea on the guitar (one take) and I was like,  that's the one!

Doing a lil irl cyberjig to this rn this is great!

This was fun. It's wild what we can slap together when a deadline looms.

It’s Much in all the best ways - really like how the layers build and the textures deepen.  Love how the percussion flits around the stereo field. Vocal samples are gritty and sorta creepy and awesome. Music: detected! 😁

Panning is super cool in my headphones

Funny I was just playing with my Soma Ether yesterday to show a friend of mine and I was thinking I should sample it hehe

I think "cyberjig" is definitely fitting XD

This feels like a megadrive soundtrack to me, I love it

Fine work M8! Couldn't agree more with dad boy! Mega drive masterpiece right there 🩵

I’m all for it. The small, quietly intentional details in the background are especially satisfying. Sheesh! Well done!

Hella fun. Wow, all of these M8 tracks sound so good - like, really nice synth sounds!

This opening panned percussion is sick
Love the squelchy lead heart

Really enjoy the breakdown releasing all that detuned tension and bringing it to a warm satisfying melodic chippy conclusion!

Very interesting piece. Haha I love the chaos of it. I'm starting to think chaos is something I'm missing from my process. I fucked around a bit in week 2 and got something I thought was quite interesting and different for me. Hearing that, and then hearing this, it makes me realize that sometimes I clean things up way too much in an attempt to make my art "good". But your chaotic "speedtrash" is super interesting and engaging, partially because you didn't spend too much time trying to polish it, and let it be what it wanted to be.

Sorry, feel like that comment is all about me, but this is a really inspiring piece for me!

Thanks for making it!

Love the big round bass patch, like a huge bounce ball that is flung around by all of the percussion sounds.
That keys break at 1:50 is awesome, almost feels like the closer of a classical piece with those suspended chords.

Nice! The panning work with the drums and other elements are great, I could listen to a whole song that was variations of the first few seconds. As you say there is a lot going on, but it's all contained in its own sonic space. The detuned/chord synths towards the end had a very "switched on" vibe that I dug.

Nice shuffle going on here, love the pairing with the pwm-y saw lead!

haha there was a little delay before the track started playing and i forgot i hit play and thought my coffee pot was breaking for a second!   big_smile

i dig it, do not try to talk me out of it!!  tongue

This is awesome! I love the creative panning. Deeply experimental and weird. Love it!

I'm listening to this with headphones on and loving all the panning that's going on. Very fun piece.

Haha, nailing the ideas to the walls that slide off is fantastic way to describe how WB2026 has been going for me too. It's all good fun though smile

Wow. I love those lil rhythmic synth zippers in the background.
The melodic breakdown after "o wow" is EPIC.
well done.

That snare snaps crackles and pops better than rice krispies. This makes me do a quirkly little dance. Catchy!

love all the glitchy percussion

That bass synth absolutely slaps, love it.

Does speedtrash always sound like this? Then maybe I need to listen to it more big_smile

this is good!  I like the stereo hard panning of the different elements.   Feels like a lot of little details supporting the whole

This is fun. I'm over here struggling to release myself from relying on comfortable sounds, while this one has a really quirky approach to sound selection. It's like several different genres got together for a celebration. Unintentional Wookie roar at 1:49 FTW.

Super cool! In the beginning, I felt like when you are watching something that’s moving really fast and your eyes a moving all around dont know why haha. Thank you for the music!

loving the groove of the bass and those lil percussive sounds that sound like bubble wrap being popped heart a dance is def necessary.

lovely jumpy chaos! the kids voice (o wow) is like frosting on the cake
