lift me up

This one came down to the wire.

The vocal in the chorus is a sample (and complimented with some adlibs by the same artist as well).

I was working on trying to get home brewed vocals in for the verses but it became way too much for this week - I had even outsourced verse lyrics to my wife which she delivered but I ran out of time anyway =/

Stubbed in some synths for verse melody placeholder.

But to be glass half full: I learned a ton about Cubase/Nuendo. I learned about vocal production and recording (even though it's not evident since the verses didn't make it).

One last surprise lesson with Cubase for me as I was exporting so I had to panic re-mix everything but certain parts are still louder than they were (like reverb send is crazy). Good learning for next time.

I'm proud of the effort anyway and looking forward to more weeks of beats.

Updated Soundcloud mix with some fast fixes for things that annoyed me: link

Great job on this one. I know what you mean about the time crunch, I had failed to record anything for 6 days and 23 hours 🤣

This is so crispy. Wife vocals are great she needs a promotion.

Next time will be different for both of us!

Thanks but I should clarify that the chorus vocals is from a splice sample. my wife wrote lyrics for the verses that she was going to record but I just never got it ready enough for her to do it.

If only I was more confident with vocal recording and editing we would have maybe made the deadline. Although I’d probably spent another hour fixing up the resting the stuff that bug me first.

Thanks again.

The album art is nice! This sounds great, stop apologizing for the reverb in chat lol this sounds great. Great job on the vox too! This is so sparkly, I love sparkly

Needs more reverb.

fun track, love the vocals! smile

Love the production, atmosphere. That intro had me instantly hooked.

Awesome energetic vibes throughout.  Drums sound great with everything and keep the pace going forward.  Especially enjoyed the half time feel.  Well done!

heart nicely done. I recognised the vocal sample immediately but wasn't sure where from. Makes sense it's from splice.  Good luck getting your wife's vocals integrated at some point in the future, we believe in you!

really like the vibe here, the bass is really neat and well defined and I like all the retrigs and gated sounds ^^

sounds really good!

Appreciate the listen and thank you!

I didn’t want the song to end. If you ever find time to record, it would be be nice to hear your wife’s lyrics/ vocals on this or a future track! Might help me talk my girl in to recording for a track of my own!

sorry for late response (was looking through the old tracks today randomly). thanks for super kind comment and for listening. I'm not sure this survives a look back at the end of the year but I remember being happy with the chorus back when.

did you get your girl to record yet!?

No but she is considering it. Hopefully I can get her to at least once this year. 🙏
