bread bread bread

By monstret on April 5, 2026 10:59 pm

I'm on vacation in Seoul and this was originally meant to be an old school Kpop type track (Twice) and very upbeat with high tempo.

It does feel upbeat and high tempo (in the chorus, 188!) but it doesn't sound at all like old school kpop. It's sounds more like generic school band cheesy pop.

My wife wrote some lyrics last second as a commentary on how much bread we've been eating during our stay and I panic pushed them through synth v to replace existing synth lines.

Hope you all had more success.

Here's also a Soundcloud link with some small improvements.

The tone is oddly sad. Like a breakup song about bread. Cute little song! Hope your having a nice time in Korea!

Love the chorus and how epic it is! Gave me some Purity Ring vibes and now i'm ready for breadsticks! Sounds like a fun vacay!

way too kind - thanks for listening and the encouragement. breadsticks are uber healthy compared to the stuff we're filling up on!

for me the sad element is mostly in the vocal/ lyrics. and not overwhelmingly sad, just does kinda come off like a breakup. which is also funny when imagining a breakup song for a food  big_smile
the music is def upbeat and more playful.
i've always loved that kind of juxtaposition... sad lyrics/ happy sounds or vice versa

Get that bread

So this is cheesy bread? Tasty! I like the tune. I would definitely describe this as having a sad vibe. It has speed, but it's also restrained.

If you don't mind some feedback...

I feel the vocals are rather loud compared to the rest of the tune. It kind of sucks the momentum out of the tune, I think. And I don't know if I like the effect that's on them. The last part is very subjective, of course. She has a good, clear really voice. And every time the synth starts tearing at her voice I feel it's a waste. I could see if work if it was blended quietly underneath her vocal. To add a layer of variation. But so strong and obvious, I don't think that's improving things. That is all very much my opinion, of course! So feel free to disagree or ignore it. Just thought I'd mention it. Sweet little tune though!

Couldn’t agree with you more. I lowered it significantly on the SoundCloud version that I uploaded later that day. It blew my ears off when I listened back. Maybe it’s still too loud but I think I balanced it ok in the SC one. Thanks for listening and constructive criticism!
