My Sweetwater rep gives me all kinds of hell about this, but my field recording tool is a modest little zoom H1n with a Footy (sock) as a wind filter. I recorded at 96kHz, for what it's worth. I've been considering getting one of the new 32-bit models, but I love the H1N for hikes because it weighs almost nothing and I don't worry about throwing it in my pack or my pocket in the rush out the door.
