RIP Jennifer

My sister-in-law, who has been fighting a battle with cystic fibrosis for many years, passed away this week. She was hospitalized for a week prior to her death, intubated because pneumonia made it impossible for her to breathe on her own. My brother, a saint, was by her side the entire time. She was initially unconscious, but when she woke up and was able to communicate by writing on a board, he had to tell her the truth. He had to tell her that she wasn't going to make it. I can't imagine...
She passed away this past Tuesday, surrounded by family and loved ones. They're across the country from me and because I'm a student I don't have the resources or the time to be there. I wrote this piece Tuesday night with my headphones on, imagining what they were going through in those last moments. I've listened to it once or twice since then and don't think it's the same outside of headphones. I don't think I have it in me to mix/master it better.
This is for you Jennifer, I hope that you've found relief. Thank you for making my brother so happy for so long.
