Willy Wonka Dub

By miraclemiles on February 13, 2022 11:21 pm

Our merry band of sonic explorers (Cyber Forest) unveil the truth about Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Labor violations, danger ... and tax stuff. Another cautionary tale.

The making of this journey: This is an edit of a live improvised jam where we have License on drums and dub chords, via Octatrack, myself on bass via Monostation, keys from the Circuit and textural voices, and Dan on the Willy Wonka rants. I added a bit more verbs, delays and mix goodness (Sausage Fattener of course), chopped up from a long jam into this shorter story.

B-BOOM B-B-BUH-BUH-BOOM BAP! FUCK YA! SHIT HITS ME ALL MEAN AND ROUGH LIKE AND THAT'S THE WAY I LIKES IT!
sorry for the caps, got a little excited there smile

Oh yeah.  I like this one.  The vocals are delightfully demented, the bass sounds huge, and the little bleeps and bloops are just right.

chocolate for my ears and my brain. awesome track. Cheers to License, too.

Say what you want but there aint going to be any OSHA violations if no one finds any bodies and that skunk Wonka isn't saying shit.  This is wild, love the narritave and all the cool panning.

I love the theme, this made me laugh just reading it. You're absolutely right, Willy Wonka is a cautionary tale about the horror of capitalism pushed to its extreme, replacing workers with children "they are not children, these are just small people from a remote tribe" and aggressive creative advertisement aimed at a vulnerable population. My only complaint about this track is that my non native ear is struggling to understand the lyrics clearly.
I like the beat also and the bass line. That is a fun track!

This was a great listen, fits the trippy aesthetic of Willy Wonka, I could hear the bubbling concoctions all around.

Where's my golden ticket

Ha ha, just finished reading the book not to long ago to my son, missed this song in the book, Oompa Loompas would be all over this

reminds me of push/pulk doors by radiohead in the best way

i can't believe you know license IRL you guys are so cool

Cool reggae dub electro vibe. Love the trippy vocal and delay effects. Sounds like Wonka fought the Law but the Law Won smile

It's been a weird wonka week, at work someone setup some demo users in the software we make that are all wonka characters, so I made some content and did an internal demo all using wonka themes.

Nice! I wanna dance with these oompas. They're kind of doing a modern kind of artful dance. I dig it.

Ok so real talk. I use the sausage fattener all over the place. It's got the magic, so I say yes, do it! End real talk. Kidding. It's all real talk all the time here ok!! I gotta refresh my memory on that radiohead song, thanks!

AND most important - yes, major shout out License, he got me into Weekly Beats in 2016. I started new job and he was QA guy there then with a game boy with LSDJ (I think that's the thing), and I was like he's super cool! And he said go do WB! And luckily we've become friends and get to jam all the time! One of these day we'll play a gig, it will be fun. Then we'll tour to Wisconsin!

Thank you! It was fun to just start with this big pile of sounds and just wear the producer hat on this and be like, how can I make these vox and things even more dubbed out!?
