Welcome the Dragon

By miraclemiles on February 4, 2024 11:56 pm

Happy Lunar New Year. Welcome the year of the dragon!
I wanted to make a song about a dragon, as well as the power that the dragons, and this year will hopefully have. I have forgotten the mythology of dragons, I need to go read up on these creatures. I like to think they are real, out there in the mountains somewhere, taking flight and avoiding sight. My head is filled with movie and fiction dragons. Like the miserly grump Smaug. But also the cute animated ones, and that lad named Puff. When I started this on drums, I couldn't help but channel the intensity that surrounds these flappy friends. So more Smaug than Puff in this track. But I like to think the dragon in this track is still a friendly sort. I wanted to do a chill interlude where the dragon shares his truth, but didn't have time for that. I may need to do a dragon part 2 next week.
Looking forward to hearing some other songs this week. I hope there are some other dragon songs up here this week? smile

Love this, awesome "foley sounds" in the beginning, sounds like a dragon crunching in the snow.  Nice tom fills also, I could almost feel the dragon coming in the air tonight smile Drum jam in the end is pretty sweet.  I'm liking this cinematic direction you've taken with a few of your submissions lately.  Maybe I'll make a flying serpent song next week, if I'm not dragon my ass!

Dragons are cool.  I'll have to see if I can do a dragon-themed track at some point this year.  Love the driving percussion near the end of the track.  Sounds like the dragon's worshippers are involved in a mad drum circle to summon it.

That first sound that comes in at the very beginning really does feel like a hearing a dragon soar through the sky!

I think its interesting how most cultures of the world have a mythology involving dragons and they're all distinct but share similarities. Where da dragons be hiding?

Super intense rhythmic section on this track!

This dragon has a sweet drum set!  Those tom and snare fills gave me some visions of Dragonheart flying amongst da mountain peaks.. but with headphones and a beanie on to stay warm of course.

Holy dragonmania!!! This is a wild ride. Excellent work on the drums.

This is really fun and super cinematic. Love the full on drum section at the end!

the drumming in the end was super intense, it really stimulated my inner dragon.

OH YOU'RE RIGHT!!! THE LUNAR YEAR IS COMING THIS WEEK. I like very much that beating heart that is the core of this track. The sense of festivities from 1:10, including that crash that sounds like a chinese crash, is good. Is that crackers that I hear? Percussive festivities and smoke in the air, digging the avalanche.

nice momentum throughout, draws me right in!
feels like a battle-cry, makes me bravely psychotic about the year! mad heart

Happy Lunar New Year!

wild ride! really enjoyed all the various cool effects on the drums. epic track

Hey thanks! Glad you liked the foley sounds. I grabbed that sample, was supposed to be wings flapping, it sounds more like crunching, but I think it works to help tell a story. I jammed on drums for too long, lol, when I heard those tom fills I thought the same thing, the dragon is coming in the air tonight! Loving your creations lately, such cool visuals! You certainly aren’t dragon your ass smile

I agree dragons are super cool. The worshippers are indeed summoning the dragon, and the dragon appreciates it. I added images to this effect in the video I just posted above.  I’d love to hear you do a dragon song, I bet you’d tell a great story! Thanks for listening!

Hey thanks, glad you thought so. I’m tempted to add those “wind” like sounds to songs often actually smile  I guess I like the thought of music outside on windy days.

So interesting! I went and read up a bit more on some dragon lore, there is wide range but with lots of similarities. I hope they come out of hiding some day! Thanks for the comment!

Haha, I love the thought of a dragon on a drum set and Dragonheart with a beanie and headphones, thanks for that! I should have done an AI image of those for the video I just posted actually. Thanks for listening and comment!

Thanks! I was trying to be bit cinematic. Glad you liked the drum end. I want to end songs with crazy drum jams often, but this seemed like a good chance to do it.

Yess! Stimulating the inner dragon is a good thing to do, glad this helped wink

Thank you! A festive celebration  with lots of drums was in order for the new year! Ha, sounds like crackers indeed. Was a sample of flapping, but sounds like crackers, or snow or something the way it ended up for sure. Now I want go eat crackers, and record them too!

hahaha, bong rip intro ftw. I hear it now, going to have to become a staple. After some serious rips, things get heavy! Maybe Bonham, one of my faves, was a actually a dragon?!

They're out there, running the corpos. That's what shadowrun has taught me.
