The Life of a Wizard

By miraclemiles on March 27, 2022 10:16 pm

Another Cyber Forest adventure. We interview a self-proclaimed wizard, and discover wizardry is not all bunnies and gumdrops. This wizard apparently grew up on the streets, and is not afraid (and may actually enjoy?!) the dark magic. Alarming. Another cautionary tale? They now have a steady job, but are they happy or not? Like all callings, perhaps wizardry is a complex panoply. Might we have an unreliable narrator situation?

License on the beat (model cycles kick and model samples hats and snare), Dan as the wizard, and myself on organelle and as the interviewer.

Cyber Forest was out to lunch a month or so ago with some friends, and we announced that the debut Cyber Forest album would be released on April 1. I like the strategy of just announcing something publicly in nice Indian restaurants to really motivate finishing an album. Will we really make the deadline though? We're getting close. Check back here next week for news!

Fun!  Tons of magic in this track.  I wand to hear more!

This sounds like it was a lot of fun to make.  Just the opening seconds alone made me laugh. Sounds like the wizards have been dipping into the spell book pretty hard for this one!

is this somehow zappaesk?? I think it could be a Frank Zappa song in 2034, if he was still with us.

Hahah yes, there is something zappaesque in this track!

What a blast of weirdness! smile

Lots of cool sounds here especially that opening tape-wavey keyboard part.  The vocals a bit reminded me of the Beastie Boys when they would do those fun interlude tracks.  Nice work!

What a trip.

Yes! glad you laughed. It was fun indeed. The wizards did indeed dip into the old spell book and magic potions for this session. Thanks for listening

Ha, I love that Zappa in 2034 idea. RIP. He's a legend, yeah I think this is kind of zappa esque. Nice call out, thanks!

Yes! We magically channelled the spirit perhaps! Love Zappa. Blasts weirdness are some of my favorite spells! Thanks for checking it!

Thanks so much! yeah, got that warbley stuff from Organelle, maybe through Kaoss pad tho, love it. Love the Beasties, I can hear that. We took some of our sessions and made some weird interludes for the album too, now just need a cover and we're done!
