A Clearing in the Evil Forest

By horatiuromantic on March 27, 2022 10:17 pm

You arrive at a clearing, and take a moment to gather your strength, for there is a long way yet to go.

This track is a combination of a modular experimental performance I recorded earlier in the week and a piano layer that comes as a response to it. I used a strange noise generating module in mirack and put it through some effects, and I found some of the results delightful but overall it was too long. So I chopped two notable parts and let them play with a gap while I improvised some piano on top, and in the end I feel like I evoked a clearing - but surrounded by some pretty evil stuff, hence the title.

It was a busy week, with a lot of creativity every day, and also a bit of code. Next week I'll be making a movie, among other things, and hopefully it will not turn out trash, but for sure I'll make a bunch of music for it so worst case scenario that will be my weeklybeats submission.

Enjoy!

Great atmosphere and beautiful piano improvisation. The conversation between the piano and electronics is really, really well executed. heart

Fantastic piano improvisation once again. Your fingers are blessed. I never thought I would like the evil. But in this case I make an exception. This clash of acoustic and electronic worlds is outstanding. Thank you for clearing it so beautifully.

Thank you both! Blessings and goodness to you! I make a lot of stuff that kinda sounds like this, so it's reassuring to get positive feedback. It's the most likely sound I can use for a first album if I end up having enough material, but I'm scared of the real world ruining me if it doesn't go well  (not all ppl are as nice as WB community). hopefully this year I get enough experience and confidence to release something commercially as well.

The gritting tone of the static and the beautiful sound of the piano complement each other well. I love the phrases you play there. It's full of surprises, of detours. Some lines are quiet and reserved, others are whimsical and jump in front of the stage. Beautiful piece.

An interesting interplay between the two.

That is why I made the project recordcutter, to be independant of the musicindustry.(you can look at it on my webpage www.q-rosh.com ) But to tell you the truth, I am too busy at the moment to make any lathes, so the whole idea of bringing out a hugh recordwave is sleeping.
But you definitely should try to bring out a record, I will buy it for shure as a vinyl or CD.

It's the sound of thinking becoming clearer as time goes on until you're there in a peaceful state of mind..... or is it!

Oh yea exactly! Don't let those precious moments ever feel bad just because they might be surrounded by turbulence. big_smile

I dig those modular textures and the piano really carves out a friendly space. Very nice!

this felt like a wonderful walk through the forest while thinking about nothing in particular...until I realised it's getting late and I have no idea how to get back to civilisation neutral
