Talking Around

By miraclemiles on March 10, 2024 10:52 pm

Started this one with a fun session looping my voice on a new looper. Almost attempted a voice-only track, but I wanted to play around with Live 12's new Meld synth and Roar distortion so I added some of those, a kick, the lead synth a modulating background one. Most everything else my looped voice. Had some fun slowing down and speeding up tempos. Things I don't love in here, and always something more to tweak, but happy I got something done and had some fun playing around.
Seems like I had a week of talking and talking. Most weeks involve some talking, but this one felt like more. Talking about many work things at work, talking with old co-workers about a late colleague who passed on. Talking to my partner about significant things that partners should talk about sometimes. Feeling feelings and talking about them. Though it can be a lot, and not always easy, if done positively with the strong feeling in check it sure feels good to have meaningful conversations. I'm grateful for the talking around this week. Another one done!

A voice only track would be interesting, but I do like the non-vocal additions you've made to this.  The synth line that kicks in right after the one minute mark is really nice.  Good conversations really are nice.  One thing I really miss about my college days was it seemed like I would have deep conversations with friends almost every day.  Nowadays, I don't always have the energy for it, but it is nice once in a while to just talk.

otherworldly! i'm into it. and agree very much with Cosmic Cairns' comments here ^

Great track. Music to stain glass to!

Let us talk about loopers. I got my newest looper yesterday. It offers crazy new options, that I never thought someone would be able to build. It brings a new level of possibilities. It took me a short while to check out the menu, but it will be fun to use it. I loved the EHX xxxxx models, but this should be worth to take a look at : Aeros loop studio.
While tipping this, I heard your track 4 times.

new looper, fun! crunchy synth around 1 min and again around 2:15 sounds really cool, I've built tracks based on much less interesting riffs. I like the dramatic speed up and slow down too. that snare is like someone banging on the door, ha!

isn't Roar dope?? man I can't believe how nasty it can good. good job restraining yourself with it here LOL.

sorry too much talking is often not fun, especially when the things to talk about are kind of a bummer. these days I crave talking. I guess it's all about balance.

fun weird track, so much attitude in that beat lol. i really like the isolated sounds around 1:55-2:00 or so. very interesting unique style!

Totally agree, I miss those college day deep and far reaching conversations too. Happens sometimes now, but life is different. Like I don’t talk about music as much as I used to, except maybe here on WB. But I do get to win workplace music trivia on Zoom. Thanks for listen and comment!

Sometimes I think music could come from other worlds. Thanks for visiting this world and checking it out!

Haha, thanks! I totally listened to this while doing my weekly glass staining session. Kidding, seems like that's not a very common art to practice these days, but I could be wrong. Glass blowing is blowing up though.

Yes let's talk about loopers! What is the new looper you're using? I don't think I'm familiar with EHX, will look that up. I have always been curious about looping but hasn’t become a major part of my workflow yet. I want to do some live performance again someday, and I think some live looping will be part of it. Still a work in progress. I have tried the Aeros loop studio! It was pretty great, but I sold it, just wasn't using it very much. Now I'm trying again with a Boss 505. It’s fast and easy and has those fun onboard Roland FX, so I’m enjoying it a lot so far. Thanks for listening 4 times and talking about loopers!

Banging on the doors, 24/7, that’s the way! Roar is a beast! Can’t wait to fuzz all the things more! Maybe it’s time to not restrain!  Glad you like the Meld synth riff I made. Yeah talking is important, I do crave it too, but I like my time to not talk too. Or just talk to the pets. Balance!

Thanks, I like fun and weird, and I like a little attitude in a beat lol. Yeah that warbly sound in there around 1:55 was another one from the new Ableton Meld synth, pretty cool to play with.

this is really cool, great concept and lots of great rhythms going on. i really like at 2m when it opens up with some new ideas and gets airy towards the end. nice track!

Thanks very much, I appreciate the comment. Yeah that 2m part is one of my faves, I wanna play with something like more.

I think the percussive elements support the vocal parts very well.  Really cool unique sound that comes from the delay/verb on your vocal elements too.  Those deep parts in the vocals resonate a bit extra as well.  I like how it explodes and expands outward towards the end.

Thanks for comment and this feedback! I like that you liked these parts, some good things I will have to play with again!
