Mind Design

I originally thought I'd and try and fit in a little bit of my favorites from this year: fave synths, percussion, samples, vocal things. Started with drum set jam thinking "tango." I realized I forgot what a tango sounds like, so I just jammed and had a lot of fun. Since the tongue drum has been a favorite tool the later half of the year, I then jammed, and recorded that. Then as it turns out, not too much time to add much else. Spent some time digging through and finding the parts I liked, putting together and arranging as usual. In the end, I like some of these sounds and parts and arrangement mostly ... but the mix is meh. Kept fiddling around, and somehow close to deadline it seems like it got muddier and worse than it was earlier. But the ears and mind are also tired. I did some some vocal sounds and kept riffing on some lines about "It's all a design you control with your mind" ...  so there's the title.

VIDEO for this coming here soon too!

This has been a fun year, my first full 52 club. As usual the weekly deadline is what I like to push myself to keep creating and learning. And I learned a lot this year. Most importantly I was super inspired by this amazing community. THANKS EVERYONE for all your music and you comments.

I hope to keep hearing your music in 2021! I'll be posting stuff to bandcamp, soundcloud, youtube. Can find all my links and contact info in the bio here. And I'll posting everything at creaturesonce.com

Drumming festival! I love the variety of sounds you are getting from all these percussions. From the distorted aggressive ones to the lighter and smoother ones. The pads/samples you are adding on top are also a very nice touch. Thanks for the music this year!

Awesome groove, great rhythms as always and some really cool textures.  Congratulations on making it all 52 weeks! I will be sure to check out your various links also.

Congrats! Nice track, you had fun with distortion... smile . It was very fun listening to your tracks this year! see you later.

welcome at the 52 club. It is better than the club of 27. You have to visit me at home in 2021 to get access to my music. If not, hope we meet here in 2022. Stay tough.

Damn, this is not what I expected when thinking of a tango. The drum line sound is badass! Great ending as well. I just followed you on Soundcloud to keep up on new music.  If you'd like some off-year homework, you could submit a SciFi influenced track to a comp I'm doing for the 2021 Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival (Check it out 2020 at 2020.brooklynscififilmfest.com). Best wishes for the new year!! - Mike

Finished a little video edit for this (and a little different mix too ... but dang, these drums have been a pain ... they are what they are. I'll call them a feature not a bug!).

Let's see if this link works ...

(Can't edit the submission up above anymore ...)

Congrats on the 52!  Nice finish to the year, glad the tongue drum made it into this one, I've really enjoyed the sound of that.  As always digging the videos, the fun live feel of all your music, and the dope lyrics.  I still at least a few times a week say "I said fuck it become a Pokemon!"  All the best in the coming year, I'll continue to check out your music through the other sites.

Nice & stompy.

Ha, yes, the 52 club is pretty cool. A trip across the ocean would be fun indeed, but I'll catch you back here in 2022. Here's to staying tough in 2021. Best of luck in the new year. Thanks for the great music!

Hah, yeah! The tango idea sure went sideways fast, typical. "Drum line sound' is good descriptor, thanks for that. Thanks for the follow. I'll keep an eye out for you. And I'll submit to the film fest too. I filled out the form on that site. Looking forward to it!

Lol, that Pokemon line, that's great it stuck, good times. Thanks very much, glad you enjoy that tongue drum. I think it may become a regular thing. Really nice to physically play something like that. Appreciate the feedback you like the live feel and lyrics - gives me some inspiration to carry on in those directions.  I've really enjoyed your beats as well, great stuff. Thanks for the comments, nice to chat with you here, and yeah, hope to see you out there in internet land1

Your music has been equally inspiring to some of us, me for sure and I'll take my time mulling it over.

Congratulations on getting in the club, keep jamming on that drum.

Dang!  So many lil interesting grooves going on in this finale.  Love the grittiness of those drums too.  It's def been a fun year listening to your tracks.  I hope you have a happy new year! smile
