Love is the Answer

By miraclemiles on February 25, 2024 11:59 pm

It's a mad world out there. We ask, what's the solution? Maybe love is too simple an answer, but simple answers work some days, in many small (and large) ways.
I found myself listening to some dub reggae this week so I thought I'd create something in that general corner of the musiverse. I wanted to do some live "dubbing," and play more, "work" less, so I tried something different. Grabbed some samples from Splice (almost got lost in their sea of samples). Dropped them into the Circuit Rhythm and spent joyful time Saturday fun dubbing. Chopping them, twisting the knobs, going bonkers on the grid FX. The fun mission accomplished, I edited that into an arrangement then did some vocals and some djembe hand drum to it. Some extra delay and reverb in Live while arranging.
Creating music can be a path to love, and maybe when love wins, we'll have harmony.

Sliiiick dub feels throughout especially with that toight bassline.  This makes me want to be in a marching band parade like in New Orleans.  Nice use of the splices too.  *nods along to da dub*

There is not much reggae dub material to find on weeklybeats. I am happy you keep this music alive. I sounds very authentic and full of good energy. Enjoyed every single tone.

I like the way you're thinking.  It may sound simple and hippie-ish, but I really think if humans loved each other even just a little bit more, the world would be a way better place.  Awesome track.  Really nailed the dub feel and it absolutely radiates good vibes.

Awesome, glad you had this response, tanks for commenting! I love a kind of marching along feel, and the dub riddims. This bassline was stuck in my head all week!

Hey good point, there's not a lot. Well maybe I'll have to do some more, it's decided. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for checking it out!

Yeah good point, I concur, sir. Easier said than done, maybe, but something to remember. I remember being filled with some angst and bitterness at one point in life, and someone said something about love this or that and eventually I tapped into that well and things were better. Glad you dig the dub feel, thanks for commenting!

incredible track, favorited. enjoyed this so much.

I think it was clipping for me, just a heads up

nice dub! you really nailed that mid-80s tone. snare and brass sound great. I hear the distortion but for me it's more of a sweet saturation than a nasty digital clip. no complaints here.

Blessings from the most high! Mid 80's, the dub of my youth, ha. Cheers.
