Les Champignons

Built from a short live session with guitarist friend Chris Barr (https://westernfamily1.bandcamp.com/) who played these guitar parts and main bass line. After he played the parts I felt it wanted to have a dubby reggae kind of feel so went in that direction a bit. I added in the rest in couple short sittings and finished this up last night here in beautiful Bellingham, WA visiting family. Recorded a stream of melting snow at the top of Mt. Baker and put that in the intro here.

Title is "the mushrooms" in French. My brother I'm staying with goes mushroom hunting and has a great poster of the same title with lots of mushrooms varieties on it that I have been enjoying looking at while I mix this down.

I like the song so much, but I have the feeling there is a little to much compression and distortion in the mastermix. Great dubby drumming.

This piece is lovely, and conversely, I love the dirt of the overall production. Downloaded.

I wasn't expecting the horns, but they fit in nicely.  The song really has a great bouncy reggae feel.  Very nice.

A smooth groove all the way through.

Really impressive playing, arrangement, and development here.  Great slightly overdriven drums and groove overall. Loving the bassline (though that might be a touch too distorted; maybe that's just me).  Great stuff.  Surprising vocal sample!

Excellent groovy reggae style piece

Thank you all so much, I really appreciate it! On the mix, I think I do want to lower the distortion/compression on the master, or at least play with that more. It actually was the result of a last minute addition of a mastering device chain I had used previously and didn't have the time to spend refining for this song, so some further tweaks could be good. Always good to get the feedback!! Enjoying all of your music, I'm behind on listening and commenting but hope to spend some time soon.
