Fifty Two in Twenty Four

By miraclemiles on January 7, 2024 11:47 pm

Hi everyone! Merry 2024 to you! Excited to hear you tunes and see what's up with you all.

I have been looking forward to Weekly Beats because WB years are the only ones I finish and share a bunch of songs.

Last year and this week was like this:

Most of 2023 - Gosh, I want to finish some music, can't wait for WB, I like those deadlines and the community support. It'll be great. Super smooth and easy. I can't even remember 2022 now.

This Monday: Happy new year! WB is happening. The time is now. Ok, well I suppose I should think about a song.

This Wednesday: Ok, wow, this is really happening. A real deadline in a few days. Ok, I'll start something, right after I do something else.

This Friday: Oh no! I don't like what I started. (mild panic). Well, I'll start something new, I have a couple days, let's go!

Today: And ... done. It is what it is, yay. I remember what this is like. Feels good to finish and share a track. Glad to be back.

This track is made from some recordings I made a while back with some hardware. Some organelle, voices, drumbrute, and FX from the MOD Dwarf, which I have since sold. Played some live drums on it just for funsies. Recorded some vox but only kept the mantra for the year: 52 in 24!.
This was one of those weeks when I had something else in mind - but made the (probably) right call to drop it and move on when it was no longer inspiring. I am often tempted to finish an idea no matter what, but it feels good to move on sometimes too. I haven't made a track like this one since maybe last WB, or even longer - WB brings out my fun and weird!

Great to see you back and can totally relate to your experiences.  I seem to be immensely more productive in Weekly Beats years, too, and it felt both good and weird to suddenly have a deadline out of nowhere again.  You have a very special brand of fun and weird and it's great to see it in full force already on this track.  It was cool to suddenly hear 52 in 24 suddenly emerge out of the vocal craziness.  Sounds like a good motivating rally.

This was very entertaining

Hey Miles, happy 2024!

Nice weird track to get started with the year. This is hypnotic and strange! That glitch at 1:55 onwards is really fun - like a rhythmic glitch like percussive madness. And these voices on all sides, it looks like there was still some toad rhum actually. Looking forward to more of your weird tracks!

i really like the voices samples, looking forward to hearing more of your music!

i love all the places this goes! i remember you always take us on a slightly disturbing reverie... just the way i likes it! big_smile

welp, that gif didn't work but it was a cool dancing robot.
cheers!

Happy new year, sir. I always love your unpredictable creations. They are big fun and surprising all the way through. Thank you for the inspirations as well.

y0! it's sometimes more about the process than the results wink Try not to overthink and just have fun... cliché but true!

That said I like the results, it's hectic but has a lot of interesting sounds/textures/ideas ... I'm all for it

Those vocal samples are very Mr Bunglesque haha

Always cool listening to your tracks especially with all the cool percussive elements you use.  This track has so many different textures, from the snare rolls to the bubblings and rumblings. Thank you for the kind comments as well. Good to see you back!  Happy 2024!

Nice! love the effectsy percussion.

this track is so good another track was sacrificed in the making! i'm glad that happened because this one is super interesting.

Ayyy been a while since I heard a new MM stomper. I like what the drums are threatening to do around 1:20 and the Scooby Doo sprinting at 2:00. So many layers of vocals!

love those dirty drums

Happy New Year!  So glad to hear you are back on WB, you always treat us to interesting and fun sounds.  Totally understand how you feel about trying to finish an idea when really should just move on.

Glad you can relate, yeah exactly - the deadline feels both good and weird at first, and it will evolve over the year I'm sure, into other feelings. Thank you for acknowledging my brand, haha wink

I'm glad to hear that. That's all this tune wants to be. Thanks!

Hi, happy 2024 to you! I like hypnotic and strange, thanks for those descriptors. I'm also trying to capture hypnotic and less-strange this year too, but we'll see if that's even possible! The toad rhum isn't gone yet. Well, its physically gone, the ceramic vile is empty, but there's enough stored in my body to get me through 2024.

Woah, love the drumming! Adds a level of cohesion to the composed soundscape

Haha, yes! I'm accidentally disturbing often, how that happens I do not know, but there we go. Thanks for listening!

Thanks for listening, I now have a nice dancing robot in my head, not paying rent yet, but welcome there because I like dance parties.

Yes indeed, wise words! Glad you liked. I have listened to some Mr. Bungle back in the way back, nice callout. Thanks for listening!

STOMPER! Yes, I gotta remember that term. I'm a stomper, when the moon is right at least. Ha, scooby doo sprinting, I don't get that, but I like it for sure.

Thanks, I'm happy with that dirt, gotta do that again.

I'm glad you're back too. Yeah moving on is a lesson I'm slowly learning. Thanks for commenting.

Lets freaking go! 24 hours, easy! haha.

Actually I'm not sure I get the joke, what was Kedbreak wrong about???

Thank you Drew! I will stay fun and weird!!

the joke is like, kedbreak said that we could write 52 songs in 24 hours and not die

and then all the people die and the statement is to warn future musicians about listening to kedbreak

smile

Oh yes! We must warn the future the musicians indeed! Be safe, be sane, be wary of Kedbreak! wink
