Drizzled Mementos

By miraclemiles on September 23, 2024 12:01 am

Blurred memories, conjured by the river. Photographs obscured beneath the water.

This one felt a little different than many of my creations, and that's part of what made it fun to work on.

› Made this in response to this week's Disquiet Junto prompt

› My production notes

I missed the upload deadline by a few minutes as my internet crashed. I think it was the VPN. Just got an upload link today on the WB Discord (that's a fun place!) Thanks Wisefire!!

woah, incredible headphone listen! so many textures and so much ear candy I've got a sugar buzz 🤠
stoked you were able to get an upload, would have hated to miss this one!

Ohh this is really fun! The space is delicious and clicky and ear-candy and I absolutely love the subtle dub/drum and bass rhythm going on underneath everything. That throbbing wub bass really carries it but the percussion dances around the bass so perfectly... really nice. And very chill and calm as well. Loved this.

Fits the aesthetic for C+C very well. I liked the combination of the clicky sounds with the more dreamy reverberated background. It's what I did myself. You went for a purer sound with less distortion (just the bass, right?) and more surgical sound, which actually arguably fits the assignment better. And the quiet break in the middle is just exquisite. The build from that is just fantastic detail.

Happy that you fought for the late upload link as this is an excellent track.

Really like the sound design on this one, I am a huge fan of all the subtle textures placed in the stereo field.

Perfect title for all these wonderful textures flowing in and out.  Percussion sounds great with the growly bass.  The clicks and cuts especially that zipper-like sound adds a nice groove as well.  Those deep kicks are so thick too.  Nice work!

This is cool! Like how the format seems to break a bit and finds it's Ken way (like a river?) dynamic, with rough and also smooth (rough rocks being smoothed by the water)

Hey, so glad you liked, thank you! I really had fun with this, I want to play in this space some more. Cool to get the feedback about bass and percussion, appreciate that.

Hey, glad you came back to listen, appreciate the comment. I really enjoyed your submission for this week as well, also really fit the vibe. We did have some similarities. Yeah just some disto on the bass. This was fun one, glad you liked, thanks!

Thank you, appreciate that. Yeah remembered to move some things around the stereo field on this, and glad I did!

Thank you! Glad you liked these sounds. I like that kick, it was sample of a bathtub from Mr. Bill pack. I did some tweaking. I like it when kicks or anything is found sound type stuff. Nice to record your own, that's ideal, but also fun to dig through sample packs.

Oooh, wonderful metaphor, love that. That is perfect descriptor. Thanks for listening and finding the way with it.

I'm familiar with the label and this is a great tribute in honour of the label and its artists.  This is a pleasure to listen to on headphones, so many little nuances and bits to discover, that bass really hits.

Awesome, thank you, cool you know the label, appreciate you thought this fits that good music. Yeah this bass is something I want to use more. Helps that it go some room in there.
